Persistent neck and shoulder pain Recommendations for mattress/ pillow please

I have had the most stiff and painful neck/ shoulder pain for the past 3 weeks and it all started when putting my son in his car seat, it felt like I had whiplash. From then I just haven’t been able to get rid of the stiffness and I know my mattress/pillow are making it worse as every time I lie down my neck and shoulders stiffen up.

My current mattress is very old anyway so definitely needs replacing. It’s starting to dip in the middle and feeling a bit springy.

My budget is around £500-£700.

I have been looking at John Lewis no 1, silentnight and Milbrook.

So if anyone has tried any of the three I’d love to hear good or bad!

I am cosleeping with my 3 year old- some of the mattresses I’ve looked at say from 12 years. In that case would it be dangerous to buy said mattress if I am still continuing to cosleep?

I’ve been eyeing up tempur pillows and also looked at cheaper brands but all memory foam. Either flat shape or curved for neck support.

I am a back and side sleeper.

I also have 2 slipped discs in lower back.

I am feeling quite miserable over this pain and discomfort and also much older than my age! Please help me get a good nights sleep and feel young (ish) again!!

Go to an osteopath, and don’t buy the Simba - I hate mine and it’s made my back worse!

I’ve heard mixed reviews about the simba so will avoid! I do have a brilliant chiropractor I go to, what’s the difference between that and osteopath @InsolentAnnie ? Thank you!

Any other recommendations please? Neck pain is starting to give me headaches!

I am Very tempted to buy a tempur pillow today but should I get the dipped one or normal shaped?
Thanks anyone!

I have a dipped pillow but I got it from Amazon. It was real game changer for me

I found a wool pillow to be the best for my neck & shoulder. I'm a side sleeper and these really helped. I got washable ones from The Wool Room .

I love my Simba mattress, I’ve got the hybrid one. I’m a side sleeper and it’s really helped with the lower back pain I had. Also bought a dipped pillow, ‘Complete Sleeperrrr’ last year and it’s been a game changer for neck and shoulder issues.

Thank you everyone, I think I will get the dipped one then! Silly question but does your head go on the higher or lower side of the curve?

Honestly it’s cosleeping that is breaking me too. It’s having my arm up and extended over dcs head, not sure the pillow will help too much if I’m continuing to cosleep but I will try anything at this point!
