Inspired by This thread about the way the world is going. I agree with almost all of it and have added. Just looking for small glimmers of hope. The ones I can think of are more what individuals are doing rather than society or governments.

Threads like the one above show that there are people that do care

Ive fallen over a couple of times recently and both times have had strangers come over and offer help.

While our national organisation is putting in hard targets I have a manager who has told me just concentrate on my mental health and my individual targets and not worry whether the office is OK. In other places I know there is a lot of pressure

Seeing parents playing with their children yesterday in the sunshine (while knowing we need it to be cooler in May.)

I am frequently gobsmacked that I have had the luck and privilege to have been born in a country with enough.

Being able to flush the toilet with fresh treated drinking water seems an immense privilege. As does walking through a supermarket with a whole aisle of food for dogs and cats. Being able to have a cat or dog as a beloved pet - most countries I've visited have them as rat/vermin catchers.

Life feels good when you are on the positive side of comparison.

Totally this. I frequently think how amazing it is that we get to live in peace time. To never experience war is incredible luck.

I get as peeved and despairing with mindless populism as the next person… but as other posters have observed, access to fresh, clean, running water is something I try hard not to take for granted every time I use a tap or a flush. That adds up to a lot of opportunities for gratitude if I’m mindfully paying attention.

On a smaller scale, I will be rearranging my mortgage for the second time since divorcing and explaining my current position with the broker yesterday was a beautiful wake-up call as to how far I’m come since leaving two decades of emotional, physical and financial abuse with nothing but bruises.

in fact, it made me realise that after years of scrimping and building a more stable future, I can finally relax a tiny bit enough to take my teens on a short holiday this summer with some savings.

Sending un-mumsnetty love to all today Flowers
