I read something on FB today and I think it's 4 weeks for UC? And apparently you have to let them know?

I assume this only applies if you are away for 4 weeks consecutively? I can't imagine they make people declare a week in Spain here and there?

CalicoPusscat · 01/05/2025 21:18

Yes consecutive. But it doesn't affect PIP?

Well you can't stay in Europe more than 30 days anyhow scince brexit.. which is shorter than Benefits allow.

As a temporary arrangement the rules are 13 weeks for PIP, 26 weeks if it's for medical treatment.
For those who don't like it, please be aware that many self employed disabled people in some fields get work contracts in Europe, where there are different ideas about offering the disabled employment.

If it's to live more permanently in an EEA country or Switzerland, some people will be able to continue to claim PIP care component, but not mobility component.
This is because it can overall be much cheaper to let the seriously disabled, and those seeking euthanasia go live abroad.

Definitely no work involved. It's far east Asia.

For the Schengen area it's any 90 days within any 180-day period, without a visa. Any longer you need a visa.

Then it's allowed for the first 13 weeks, double if for medical procedure.
After week 13 if they continue claiming, a genuine claim becomes a fraudulent claim.

But go into hospital here, and it's four weeks, or if you return to hospital as an inpatient for the same issue within four weeks. (very harsh if you keep getting held for 24/48 hrs every 3.5 weeks post clinic treatment) Keep continuously claiming after that, and it becomes fraud.

(Carers have to declare every and any holiday or person they care for being hospitalized, that means they cease to care for a week or more and can be refused.)

It's for shagging and drugs not medical care, but he's taken family money which we're furious about 😬

What does their tenancy agreement say about absence?

Sorry. Flowers
It will be karma if he ends up needing medical care from it...

It is one calendar month for UC rather than 4 weeks. So if you left on 13th April you must return 13th May by the latest. I think the day of outbound travel isn't included, so technically it would be 14th May. You have to inform them if you are leaving the UK, regardless of how long for though.
