Is this really going to be brought up to the limelight or will the fear of being called racist or xenophobic etc bury this again ? There is a real issue so why are those in power so scared of dealing with it .

Because it couldn’t have happened without police, politicians, social workers and media turning a blind eye

Woollygreymittens · 01/05/2025 07:46

Did anyone watch this?

Woollygreymittens · 01/05/2025 07:51

I’m asking because it’s mentioned a lot on X - I didn’t realise it was on so I’ll watch it later today

Woollygreymittens · 01/05/2025 07:57

Nobody then?

Crazyworldmum · 01/05/2025 10:09

I have a feeling people are still afraid to discuss anything that might be linked to a specific group of people , in a way it just proves that by it happened and why it is still happening . I feel it’s very sad because instead of fearing repercussions to those communities it would be much better to just say “ ok we accept there is a issue “ now let’s deal with , but all we get is extreme right attacking and being called racist and nobody from else saying emu thing afraid if being associated with the far right , which I do get as honestly I was almost scared of outing this post up and have administrators remove it .

Very true , and clearly it’s still not being discussed now and they are still turning a blind eye

It’s a shame we are frightened to discuss certain issues but they are very valid. I’m not far right, I have voted labour all my life (although I couldn’t vote for Starmer) but sadly there are people who have different values as regards women. My friend went running by the canal the other day and 3 men blocked her way, one was in her face taking photos and the others were calling her a fucking slag and saying she should cover herself up (she was wearing running top and leggings, she is in her 50s). Fortunately a male dog walker came to her rescue. She is too frightened to talk about this or report it but now feels too scared to run on her own again

Woollygreymittens · 01/05/2025 11:17

Also this week a woman, on the same canal bank, was intimidated by a group of young men and they took her phone in broad daylight

Woollygreymittens · 01/05/2025 11:22

I feel very surprised that on a forum such as this we are too scared of being labelled racists when are rights as women are being eroded in plain sight

Woollygreymittens · 01/05/2025 11:24

*our right

Woollygreymittens · 01/05/2025 11:25

Our rights ffs ! I think the sun is going to my head 😂

I saw it. I was expecting the whole of Mumsnet to be discussing it, to be honest. It’s a scandal, and it’s quite clear that grooming children in state care is a private business with a business model, like the drugs market. The children are the product, though, through sexual exploitation. They have a five point plan to carry out the grooming, as described by Despatches. Absolutely sickening.

I’m very curious that the director of the programme said that the police seemed to be under senior instructions internally not to act, and we all know that social services weren’t much better.

The most important thing to know is that this is STILL GOING ON. The businesses don’t go away, and children are still being abused.

Just like you I expected this to be a big focus on mumsnet but seems people are still scared of talking about .
