What are you eating when you do eat?

Try cutting down a lot on carb and upping protein. My sympathies, my willpower with food is really bad since my 40s.

I've found to lose weight I do have to deal with feeling hungry. I have fruit and yogurt for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch, boiled egg snack and a healthy dinner. I also exercise almost every day.

Annoyingsquirrels · 30/04/2025 07:12

It is good to be hungry when you wake up, it is much healthier to eat earlier in the day. Make sure you eat something high in protein and fibre when you wake e.g greek yoghurt with nuts, seeds and berries, omelette with a salad etc which should keep you full until lunchtime.

I thought losing weight over 50 was impossible but I’m on a ‘shred’ with an instagram trainer.
i eat 14-1500 calories a day, eat 100 grammes of protein a day and walk 10000 steps daily. I’ve lost 2kg in 4 weeks. It’s doable .

TucanPlay · 30/04/2025 07:21

Are you overweight? Maybe focus on your health and wellbeing rather than weight. Dieting is sole destroying but deciding to eat healthily feels more positive for me.

I agree that losing weight is doable but the issue is that you can’t do it without willpower. I too lack the willpower at the moment. I don’t know how to get it back, sorry. Interested to see if anyone has any advice about willpower rather than diet tips (which would work once you have that willpower).

LegoTherapy · 30/04/2025 07:44

It’s really hard to get in the zone. I got out of it massively after Christmas and slowly gained nearly 4kg. I’ve been back on it since Monday and am 0.8kg down. Usually, for me at least, a small loss is enough to kick start the willpower and maintain it.
How much do you want to lose, what’s your BMI and what kind of things are you eating/calories? Have you worked out your tdee? That for me was a big help. My tdee is 2,300 calories so dropping to 1800 a day is seeing me lose weight. Even at lower weights I’ve lost on 1500 a day but I’m very active. I walked 13 miles yesterday but usually do 8-10. The walking makes a big difference for me. How active are you?
You can do this. I personally phrase it as a gift to my health to lose weight. Come and join us on the LOSE IT threads for good company and no judgement. You’ve got this.
