The ones held in churches, cathedrals, etc.

Are they any good, worth the money or a waste of time?

Has anyone had the experience?

I went to one in a nearby cathedral. The concert itself was beautiful, as was the cathedral. However the most annoying part was people holding up their phones constantly; it was hard to see much when people had phones up in front of you. We were told not to use phones but it seemed nobody listened. It just ruined the experience to be honest, it was hard to be in the moment and enjoy.

Saw one in London recently in a church. The acoustics were not great. The “candles” were just LED ones. It was very expensive for what it was. Average pianist. Won’t bother again and will spend the money at a proper concert hall.

I went to one recently, we paid for the front row to avoid having people with phones in front of us. It was good, but I don't think I'd do it again. I think unless the theme of the evening is something you really like then it's worth doing. As pp said, the candles are only LED

I saw a string quartet do Queen songs, I really enjoyed it, just something different to do. They asked for no photos until the last song and promised a photo opportunity at the end and the audience I was in respected that rule fortunately. Yes the candles are the LED but I assumed they would be, no way would the fire risk be taken with that many real candles so close!

I saw a a violinist and a pianist do Fleetwood Mac songs . It was fine but very samey. And there’s not much scope for entertaining patter between songs. It was a pleasant evening but I wouldn’t go again.

We went several times for Christmas Carol ones in London.

I like them but it depends a lot on the venue. We did the Alber Hall - stunning. Similar St. Martin-in-the-Fields.

Barbican - great acustics but souless, the concert was lovely but the venue is just not romantic/beautiful for it. LED candels as well.

Similar Central Hall Westminster, too modern inside to really fit a candlelight concert.
