3.5y old and bubble tea - so worried

We got DD a bubble tea today (not the large tapioca pearls, the little popping ones). I inherently knew this was a bad idea but DH went ahead.

At one point she kind of choked and coughed a few times. I am now absolutely petrified some went into her lungs and she'll develop respiratory issues/pneumonia and worse.

I'm not so worried about the choking hazard as such as they are tiny but more so that as she would have tried to get them up the straw it would then have been quite hard for her to deal with liquid and solids together and she may easily have inhaled some?

I am almost in tears to be honest feeling like the stupidest mum. I have health anxiety and spiral quite quickly, but am wondering if I should proactively seek advice?

Is it possible to inhale food/drink into the lungs and it be OK?

She’ll be absolutely fine.

It’s highly unlikely that she has aspirated the beads into her lungs.

If your worst case scenario had happened she would be showing symptoms/be dead by now.
she isn’t, so it was fine.
in future if it worries you then don’t give her bubbletea but try to be kind to yourself, children younger than three drink it in some families so I don’t think it was totally out there parenting wise

Thank you so much I feel a bit reassured.

Thanks @wafflesmgee I couldn't find any info online about giving bubble tea at that age which panicked me further that all parents know it is very dangerous and we were the only ones careless enough to do it.

I definitely won't be doing this again in any case.

Hope you’ve managed to have a better evening. I have Singaporean friends, that’s how I know! :)

Your dd will be fine. However, are you getting any help for your health anxiety?
