Looking for sunscreen for super sensitive, very easily burned skin, and aftersun.

Does anyone know of any?

Skin is extremely sensitive and dry due to past damage (not sun, was more likely some bad frostbite which can cause permanent damage). Was unable to wear any makeup at all for decades, can't wear jewellry.

In the past have burned through light cloud cover.

The last couple of sensitive skin SPF50 to SPF100's have irritated my skin, the last I tried was Nivea kids' sensitive skin SPF 50. At this point I don't much care if it's a bit pricy - just want something that works without making me itchy.

If anyone knows of good aftersun too that would be great. Long ago the Boots Aloe Vera sensitive skin aftersun worked well, but they changed the formula.

Thanks!

I have very sensitive skin prone to polymorphic light eruption and burn very easily. I landed on Piz Buin Allergy SPF 50 a few years ago after trying many others. I swear by it now. Not too expensive.

La Roche posay is the best imo.

HeyCooper · 26/04/2025 22:43

Ultra sun 50

SilverRainCloud · 26/04/2025 22:44

La Roche Posay is brilliant. The whole sunscreen range is excellent. I personally love the spf 50 face spray and spf 50 body spray. The face spray is incredible so effective yet feels like nothing.

stayathomer · 26/04/2025 22:47

Le Roche posay here too- best of luck op, so hard finding something that works x

dontpunchtheplasticgorilla · 26/04/2025 22:49

I have PLE and use uvistat suncream. It doesn't sink in like usual suncream though- it leaves a white film on your skin instead. However I'll happily take that over the whole 'would happily unzip my skin' feeling you get when PLE gets going.

mumofthemonsters808 · 26/04/2025 22:56

Piz Buzz anti allergy worth every penny.

Comingtosunset · 26/04/2025 23:05

Heliocare 🙏🙏

invisible spray for the body- never burned with this
I like the pigment control fluid for face.

Iwiicit · 26/04/2025 23:10

I also use La Roche Posay. I start burning after about 3 minutes in the sun (literally) and I am allergic to all other sun lotions I have tried, and I've tried loads of them.

DucklingSwimmingInstructress · 26/04/2025 23:43

Thanks a lot for the recommendations, seriously! Ill give a couple of them a go.

My friend was allergic to something that’s in lots of sunscreens he used Green People sun cream, it smells lovely too.

TragicMuse · 26/04/2025 23:54

The Altruist - it’s created by dermatologists and I find it really effective. I burn at the drop
of a hat! But it stops me burning.

Butterflysunshine01 · 27/04/2025 07:51

Altruist is very gentle and effective. Also for clothes/hats and sun umbrellas, Solbari is a great brand for built in sun protection and the quality is lovely.

WellyBellyBoo · 27/04/2025 07:56

Another vote for Altruist. When I had eczema on my face it was the only one my skin could tolerate.

Needlenardlenoo · 27/04/2025 08:08

Another vote for La Roche Posay for the face especially. They do a handy handbag size as well. All the other kinds give me spots!

DucklingSwimmingInstructress · 27/04/2025 17:09

Ive ordered the la Roche Posay and Ultrasun, if those don't work Ill try Altruist and Piz Buzz.

Have you tried mineral sunscreen instead of regular? You might be reacting to the chemical element so if you haven’t tried it mineral sunscreen could be worth a try. It uses a physical barrier (usually zinc oxide) to blocks the UV rays.
Try Green People or Jason.

Aparecium · 27/04/2025 18:21

I also have PMLE, plus allergic contact dermatitis. I use Ultrasun or P20. I second Solbari for UV protective clothing. I have their sleeves, and to my astonishment they are genuinely cooling. I don't get chilly arms, but my arms do not get hot, as I would normally expect with thick sleeves on in the sun.

Tiegs · 27/04/2025 18:53

E45 sun cream and after sun

yoshiblue · 27/04/2025 19:00
