PIP interview Advice

Hi everyone,

I'm preparing for my PIP interview and would really appreciate any advice or tips from those who've been through this process. I have rheumatoid arthritis, which significantly affects my daily life, mobility, and ability to work.

I’m curious about what kind of questions they might ask during the interview. For example, will they focus on specific tasks or ask about general daily challenges? Also, what sort of evidence should I provide to support my application?

I’ve gathered things like medical records, letters from my GP, and details about how my condition affects me, but I’m not sure if this is enough or if there’s anything else I should include.

Thank you so much for any guidance or experiences you can share—it would mean a lot!

Talking about your worst day as if it’s your average is fraud, which is illegal.

That is why it is important to stress how often etc, when talking about a variable condition.

You've had a lot of people telling you to describe your worst day. This isn't at all true - it's a myth. In extreme cases, it's just plain fraud.

Pip is based on how you're affected on more than 50% of days.

If someone is perfectly fine 364 days a year and has one awful day, and tries to claim pip by describing that awful day, they're committing fraud.

You need to be ready to talk about the pattern and frequency of your flare ups. Are you in flare ups on more than half of days? If yes, then it's relevant to talk about how you're affected during flare ups. If you're in flare ups on less than half of days, it's still useful background, but the assessor really needs to know about how you're affected the rest of the time.

I believe the phrase you need is "on average".
ie
On average I need help getting in the car 4 out of 7 days.
On average I manage to shower once a week.
On average I have a flare 1 week in 4. I am bed bound for most of this time & need help from x to get to the bathroom.
Etc.
