I'm doing practical things that help me manage the house better. Things like shelving put into storage cupboard. And lable the shelves. A hoover on each floor of the house. Bike shed in the front garden so we don't have to bring them through the house and they don't get dumped in a corner. 2nd back garden shed so I can keep the garden furniture/pool and other bits in there tidy etc. I'm thinking of ways I can make the kitchen easier/tidier.

I also pay for an extra bin collection once a fortnight. That has helped alot . I'm no longer chasing my tail regarding rubbish etc and everything looks much more tidy.

This weekend plans: put the garden shed where it should be put the doors on. Tidy garden get rid of crap not needed . Put bikes in the front garden shed.

Get washing and drying done.

I feel quite content on how things are going house/tidy wise. Its taken me a long time to get to this stage.

This is my favourite sort of thing to do. Sorting out storage, reorganising stuff to make things easier, more streamlined and practical.

Give me a cupboard full of stuff to reorganise rather than a box set any day lol.

Ideally, money permitting I think most families would benefit from hiring a skip every 12-24 months (the small ones are great for 'maintenance' de cluttering).
All of the crap from the garden, kids old toys, wrecked bits of furniture etc are gone all in one go without doing 10 trips to the tip.
Whilst I agree we all need a decent amount of storage most of us just have too much stuff.
My weekend plan would be to gut the house first then add storage where it was definitely needed (we moved not long ago and I daren't say how many skips we used, in fairness we moved to a smaller house).

I agree about the skip . I used to get one for 150-200 from a regular I used to use . I would have it from Friday to early Monday. But I didn't have a drive I needed a licence and a permit. And that bumped it up a hell of a lot. But this guy used to just let me do it for skip cost only. So 150-200 . He's stopped doing it now though. He only does stop and collect now. Which is a pain. The tip is so hard for people that don't drive or have access to a car/van. The extra bin i have is helpful at the moment I'm having it collected every 2 weeks . Hopefully i can go to monthly at some point.

I have put shelving under my stairs. And some in my large cupboard . I used that for towels/blankets etc . But also I dry things in there as its warm.

I had a small plastic shed that I didn't out together well . And I over loaded it with stuff . So I took that apart. Omg the spiders were massive have never seem them so big. Any way I managed to sort it and I put the shed on a free site. It's gone now. I have my new shed up just got to put the 2nd door on them I can put stuff back in.

I definitely find it easier with storage and shelves. And organising. I'm not 100% good with it but now i at least don't over flow things get boxes stuck on boxes etc . Feels much better.
