Please can anyone help me fix this damn dishwasher!

Having a great day so obviously something had to go wrong and it's the damn dishwasher.

I went to put it on after dinner and it had a lot of water in the bottom which from googling has activated the flood switch (the eco setting is flashing when I switch it on, it's beeping at me and making a grinding noise).

I've mopped up all the water and cleaned all the filters and it's still making the noise and beeping.

So please before I have to call someone to dissect the damn thing which I can't really can't afford can anyone please suggest something I could do to try and fix the fucking thing.

Yes im remembering now it was something about some sensor getting activated inhibiting the draining

its all coming back now, i think i ladled water out then did that button thing

DamnTheDishwasher · 26/04/2025 12:11

I saw a few online suggesting rocking it. It's integrated but might be worth taking the door off if rocking it works. Was yours also making the gargling noise and flashing eco?

I do appreciate all the ideas though. I feel like it will have won if I have to resort to calling someone out. I'm stubborn and like to try and fix the problem myself. 😂

Ok that sounds encouraging and will be the next strategy.

I've done bicarb and vinegar and am just flushing it through with hot water to see if there appears to be a blockage in the pipe. I left it to react and have just poured in the water. Not sure if it's an encouraging sign but it's gargled a lot since I put the water in and it sounds like it's clearing the pipe so I'm crossing all my fingers that the issue is infact just a blocked pipe and this will rectify it.

On a positive note given all the attention I've been given it I can safely state my dishwasher hasn't been this clean since I brought it. 😂

Yes it was

I think with a beko it’s cheaper to replace than call someone out!

mine is currently not washing very well

youve definitely checked the filter inside the dishwasher floor?

DamnTheDishwasher · 26/04/2025 12:28

Yes I've check the filter had it all out and cleaned it. The inside of this dishwasher is now pristine..😆

I did wonder if it would be cheaper to just replace it rather than get someone in to take a look. As you say by the time I've paid someone o diagnose the problem and fix it we're probably close to the price of a new one? If the amount of money going to be spent is similar it would probably be better just to replace it.

Sorry to hear yours is not cleaning well. I forgot just how much I loved the convenience whilst stood washing up last night's dishes.

When this happened to us we turned it off overnight at the wall. While it was off we cleaned it and especially the seals around the doors. When we turned it back on again the pump straining sound had stopped and the error code disappeared. We tried it initially on a quick wash. That worked fine. I then did an Intensive wash in an empty dishwasher with just white vinegar. That was fine. It's been running well ever since.

Marmaladelade · 26/04/2025 13:03

Oh it’s so telling isn’t it

my shower could only run hot on last year and I kept putting it off getting repaired - by just having quick hot showers but in the end when I got it fixed I felt like wow the meaning of life is here now! It was so exiting to have the ease

Marmaladelade · 26/04/2025 13:03

I sure mine happened because of it being off level or something

do keep us updated!

goingtotown · 26/04/2025 13:08

Turn it off at the plug for a few minutes then turn on.

Dbank · 26/04/2025 13:15

Sounds like a blocked pump impeller, usually cherry stone, shard of glass, or a pistachio shell.

Usually there's a little cover over the pump impeller in the sump area of the dishwasher. Varies by make and model, but I lost count the number of dishwashers I've fixed by clearing it out.

It should be in the manual for your machine as it's a user serviceable feature.

Turn it off at the plug for a few minutes then turn on.

Unfortunately I can't get to the plug socket as it's hidden behind the appliances rather frustratingly.

I tried the pressing two buttons trick and sadly that didn't do anything. 😕

Could you turn it off via the fuse box?

You're an absolute genius I can't believe I didn't bloody think of that. I'm off to try resetting it.

This happened to me last week on my freestanding Beko Dishwasher. Did all the filters etc as you have. Gave up and called out a local engineer and basically there is a "switch" on the back that had to be replaced. Also the water inlet hose was slightly kinked. Considering it's over 12 yrs old and this is the first time it has gone wrong I was happy to pay the £70 charge - it is working just fine now :)

Tiredpigeon · 26/04/2025 14:45

I had this problem, unplugged it and left it for several days, then it was fine. No idea why!

Unfortunately I can't leave it unplugged for several days as I can't get to the socket. I'm pleased yours just started behaving again though. I am currently going to willfully ignore it and treat it like a toddler who just wants attention in the hope mine also starts behaving 😂.

Interested that it was a switch Heretomorrow. I do feel like I've tried everything suggested bar tilting it. Hopefully if I do call someone it's not too expensive. Did they give you a rough idea of how much when you rang them? Don't want to call someone and have it cost a fortune and regret not just going for a replacement.

It was a £20 call out charge but that was incorporated into the bill. We have a village FB page and he was the engineer recommended there.

DamnTheDishwasher · 26/04/2025 19:51

Now I don't want to jinx it but I've just gone to put the washing machine on which is next to the stroppy dishwasher and thought oww I wonder if ignoring it worked...pressed the on button and it appears to have stopped it's tantrum and as we speak it is working!!!

My 84 year old Dad has always said with any car or machinery, you be a friend to them and they’ll be a friend to you! It was clearly exhausted, you’ve given it a good clean, a little rest, missed it and now having made its point, you’re good to go again 😂

To be fair I did tell it I would be kinder to it, make sure it was better looked after and less overworked as I closed the door and listened intently for the sound of water...

So maybe your dad was onto something 🤣

Yes a cup of vinegar in the empty wrack and bicarbonate in the soap dispenser once a month on a hot wash

i I wonder if your washing machine is contributing - they will be on a double sprocket thingy

now that is technical!

I'm going to be honest I did wonder if the washing machine was helping although I did use it last night too and the dishwasher was definitely not working then.

If it needs the emotional support of the washing machine in future however to function then I can work with that. I think we can all relate to needing support 🤣.

I'm just pleased he's decided to function at all.

I was thinking more maybe washing machine feed is blocked and stopping dishwasher

but all sounds good

definitely update us if it stops again

DamnTheDishwasher · 26/04/2025 20:23

Ah it could be? Either way I shall definitely update if it decides to have a moment again but in hopeful with lots of encouragement he continues to behave. 🥰
