My neighbour noticed I was sitting in the garden throwing the ball for DDog and asked if I’d like a glass of rosé!
Cheers!
Anyone else got a fantastic neighbour?

My neighbour sadly died in January but she was like a big sister to me!

She was disabled and unable to work outside the house, but she used to ring me daily and ask if she could let my dog out/steal her for company (had each other's keys for emergencies) until I just said stop asking and just help yourself.

If I had hung washing out and it started to rain she would send her carers out to fetch my washing in and then pop in in the dryer for me.

She was honestly a bloody angel.we had regular Sunday night cuppa & cake dates which I miss so much!!

I love all my neighbors! One looks after my dog for me when i go away. The other invites me round for dinner fairly frequently. I also reciprocate obviously.
Another neighbour started a book club which is fun.
and another one just asked me if I’d like to go to the pub with her soon.
We all take in parcels for one another and give stuff away on our rd WhatsApp… oh and we live in that horrible unfriendly capital city of ours that everyone likes to moan about 🙌😆🏙️

Brilliant neighbour here. We swap bin space, cat feeding, plants, seeds and coffee.

My neighbours took my washing in when it rained, I thought I'd been a victim of theft at first 🤣.

The only reason we don't move is our neighbours, 7 houses, 7 families , all look after each other,
need a babysitter? Dog/cat sitter? Car towed? Pint of milk?plants watered? Cash for the taxi? Need a lift? A meal? A natter? Street party? Shopping dropped off? Glass of wine? School run help? A stockpot? A hug? Someone in your corner? A cuppa and a moan?
Whatevers needed, we have each other.
We all meet every month to eat/drink/ catch up. Some children are grown up but they have the same relationship and look out for the little ones. A lifeline for those of us without family on hand. Our very own village. So grateful we have that.

Somehow over lockdown ours ended up writing letters ‘from the tooth fairy’ and is now relied on for letters from all mythical creatures: Santa, the Elves and a whole cast of different fairies. She’s just been diagnosed with breast cancer and I’m so gutted for her

I was chatting to my neighbour many years ago and I saw a spider in the sink. I may have screamed.. She vaulted over the fence and removed it like a gladiator she was amazing. Spider remained unharmed but not in my sink anymore. It was amazing. I reminded her of this rescue recently, she had forgotten it. I definitely havent. It meant alot to me.

Ha, i still remember at university , 28 years ago when a wasp got into my room, and my over the corridor neighbour heard me vacate to the corridor, in my defence, I'm allergic, came out of her room and calmly squashed it with her tennis racket. I had been terrified of her as she was very jolly hockey sticks and 2 years above me, but thank you Geraldine.

I had some weirdo outside my drive. My neighbour came around to ask me if I was ok (we have high fences so I never see him, but have met him briefly years ago). He then came over again half an hour later, to check again and then gave me his number and said if there was anything he could do to help ever, to let him know.

My parents also have great neighbours. During covid they did their grocery shopping. They are great friends, have dinner every Thursday and are like an uncle and aunt to my DC.

I live rurally, so no immediate neighbours but have lovely friends in the village. Was chatting to one about having having had a tough week as DH had had an operation and work was tough. I said that although I wanted to just flop, I had to drive the kids on a long journey ( competition for their hobby) early on Sunday morning. On Saturday evening, she arrived on our doorstep with a bottle of wine and a tin of flapjacks and buns for the car journey.

We have the most amazing neighbours who are like family to us.
They are settled travellers with 6 kids but only one left at home who is training to be a landscape gardener and has used our very lge plot to practise on and as a result we have the most amazing garden/allotment😆
She takes my washing in if it rains - and I get it back dried and ironed, I LOVE the woman.
She watches the baby/smallies while I shower, surf the net, eat - any excuse to mind and hold babies/children and she's there - she misses having a house full.
He is brilliant at DIY and helped out big time lately while we have been doing a huge extension and has taught Dh so much over the years. They have fed us all regularly while this work has been going on, shared their wifi code and supervised slacking contracters {of which there has been a few!!} and been very successful as they can be scary. Did I mention I love them❤

My sis has a fab neighbour, Muslim family, she's C of E, church going, they get on like a house on fire, swap food, sis mainly does puddings as she has fruit trees, they give amazing Pakistani food. Sis had a job in Saudi Arabia coming up, so asked her about abayas etc, she took her to a shop sis would never have found, and all the ladies in the shop were clucking round making sure she had the right things for the best price.

My favourite bit was when she really liked one with sightly see through sleeves, and wasn't sure if it woud be OK, a woman in her seventies said 'if he can see that, he's too close'.

She's away a lot for work and they always keep an eye out.

When it was her birthday in the first two weeks of lockdown, her opposite neighbours delivered a full fry up to her door, knocked and stood back. So sweet.

Our neighbour used to have my little girl after school one day a week from when she was 4 to 7-when we moved away. It was not paid or something I needed her to do. They would do a craft together and have a ridiculous tea of scones, cake and biscuits. She would come home two hours later covered in glitter. There was the most enormous stack of gifts on Christmas and birthdays. Sometimes they went off in the bus together for a day trip. It was like having an extra grannie.

olympicsrock · 26/04/2025 00:49

Our neighbour growing up was lovely. She saw us riding our biking on the street and came to ask mum if we would like to ride up and down her driveway as it was safer.
She kept a special jar of KitKats for us. Sometimes she would call us to see her new born lambs. She always remembered our birthday and sent a card with a £1 coin inside.

When we went on holiday she came to water plants and we always came home to milk in the fridge , a loaf of bread and a warm homemade cake on the table waiting for us.

Such a lovely lady. She had her own grandchildren too but was just very kind.

When my DS was 7 he decided he wanted to be a detective. He made a flyer for his detective agency offering to solve crimes and put it in next door's letterbox.

The next day we got a long, hand written letter with his first 'case' - a cat has brought a mouse into their house but which cat? They included detailed personality profiles of their 3 cats and their movements on the day. It was 2 sides of A4 long.

DS was beyond thrilled. He pored over all the details before writing them a letter back outlining who he believed the culprit was.

It was such a sweet thing for them to do.

I love this. Heartwarming ❤️❤️
