Chicco next to me forever, anyone got one?

Anyone got one and can measure how high the base is from the floor when it’s in its lowest and highest setting? Website just gives the overall height and when I asked customer service they’ve passed my request onto their technical team! Anyone got one and a tape measure and can help out?

I've got one! Can measure later on for you when DC is awake.

Oh that would be amazing thanks so much! Currently have a snuzpod but about to outgrow it so hoping this will make bedside sleeping last longer. But worried about the drop down to the low height and should I get a standard cot where the base height is more adjustable.
how do you find it overall?

The lowest setting is approx 29cm from the floor. I can't get you the highest setting without detaching the straps from the bed, so that might have to wait until tomorrow when DH is home as it takes 2 people to reattach it (or maybe I'm just a weakling!!) It has 11 different settings though so quite adjustable. The legs are removable to turn it into a floor bed as well later on, in case that helps.

On the whole I really like it. We have a lip around the edge of our bed frame so it doesn't fit perfectly - it would be even better if we had a different style of bed.

We bought it because DD2 just cried and cried when we tried to move her to the big cot when she outgrow our standard next2me. She mostly cosleeps but it's been really handy to have in our room to at least attempt at getting her cot sleeping, and when DD1 (nearly 4y) is ill, she has slept in it whilst DD2 is in my bed. The sliding side mechanism is a little bit noisier than I would like but we just make sure that DD2 is deeply asleep before we close it up. I got ours for nearly half-price from UK Baby Centre so worth shopping around the baby shops as well in case it's discounted.

@Notsuchacleverclogs or anyone else!
It says that if not clipped to the bed the side doesn’t stay down and pops back up. But we’re looking to push it down to get the baby out when away from the bed and then bring the side back up to put against the bed. It looked like you might be able to attach something so it stays down when it’s a toddler bed, will this work?

This is the manual. We haven't converted to a toddler bed yet, currently we have it as a cot with the sides up but away from our bed. It looks like you just remove the moveable bit altogether when in toddler bed mode. We have the side permanently up and i just lean over the side to put DD2 in.

Looking at the mechanism, there is a clip on each side of the underneath of the cot. When you attach to the bed, you use those clips to fasten the straps around the bedframe and the tension on the clips is what causes the side to move up and down. I guess if you used the strap but just didn't fasten around the bed frame, you'd be able to move the side up and down when away from the bed. But it would obviously be against the manufacturers manual and be more dangerous, because if the side were to fail and come down when baby is inside, they could just fall onto the floor as the bed wouldn't be there to protect them. The straps are provided with all next2mes after a case a few years ago with the original snoozepods, where a baby was smothered because they fell inbetween the bed and the next2me, so the manufacturers introduced straps so make sure there wasn't a big enough gap for babies to fall inbetween. So you'd also have that risk to consider if you aren't using the straps.

I should say that for the past week, DD2 has slept in the next2me and not in my bed!! 🥳 So it has absolutely been worth its money for us.

Did you figure out what height the highest setting is? I would like to purchase and my bed height is 66cm

Notsuchacleverclogs · 05/09/2025 18:01

This is the highest height of the base and the height at the top of the dropped side (photos might take a minute to load) when legs are at their highest.

(Excuse the mess - we finally got DD2 sleeping in a cot in her own room, so we keep this one in our room as baby jail with toys / for emergencies).
