Cordless hoovers!

I need a new cordless hoover. Can you tell me about yours and if you do or do not like it and why. Needs to be under £500 and I probably won’t pay over £300 but I like to see what i am missing (sorry I know this is a VERY exciting thread).

it needs to be cordless as I have a bad back and even the lightest upright or cylinder are too painful.

this (picture) is the shark I have and whilst it’s fine I think there are better ones out there. It leave it look g clean but I don’t think it is as good an upright Dyson I used to have. This is now two years old. I have big hairy dog and I also have a dust mite and pollen allergy that last from March to October.

No advice but watching with interest as I was about to post the same thread! Only I have hairy cats.

I have a Dyson v8. I bought for £330. Load of crap! Takes forever to charge but I can barely get one room hoovered before it dies. A shame really as it’s so much easier to hoover with a cordless and it doesn’t weigh a tonne like my Henry

I've got a cordless Henry and its brilliant. Better than the dyson it replaced

I love the passion that comes out in hoover threads! I’m not sure another appliance could foster so much emotion.

@Kameki didn’t know there was such a thing as a cordless Henry!! I’ve got hoover envy!!

I have a Dyson V10 which is really good. Powerful suction.
Always feels flimsy though, to me. I have cracked it and had to replace parts.

Channel 5 tonight just did a test on 3 cordless stick vacuums. Compared Bosch with Dyson and one other cheaper one, which didn't seem good.

The Bosch unlimited was their favourite.

I’ve got the Miele triflex, it’s brilliant so much better than the Dyson I replaced.

Darkclothes · 24/04/2025 00:20

I was going to ask similar OP.

I've read lots of threads about this and read reviews.
Henry do a cordless which is lighter than the Miele I was looking at, has a larger dust capture thing, but requires bags.
Miele do have an outlet and stock changes daily. I'm still reviewing options.

Ooh, not just me and a Friday afternoon Dyson, then?

My Dyson V10 Cyclone has the same battery problem. Useless. Although my housekeeping standards are low, so I haven't replaced it yet. Will be looking at the Miele's as my Miele washing machine is brilliant.

Dyson V11 Absolute Animal. I bought it about 6 years ago and I still love it. The motor died a couple of months ago and my DP has replaced it with a brand new one from Dyson for about £100. It’s back to super self. I have three dogs, two fox terriers and a Peekapoochi (hairy beast).

Using my Henry (left over from the olden days) was just a nightmare with its suicidal
tumbling, cord catching and hair avoidance.
I have a s/h V8 in a holiday let for guest convenience (tiny apartment) and it is no where near as good although it does an okay job.

Chasingsquirrels · 24/04/2025 07:56

Before you replace, take it apart and do a really good job of cleaning all the filters. I find it makes a big difference to all the vacuums I've had recently.

Summerhillsquare · 24/04/2025 08:18

I have a Samsung, £299 in John Lewis. Not super powerful so better for hard floors and light carpets, but very easy to use and charge, lightweight and flexible. I am happy with it.

Screamingabdabz · 24/04/2025 08:28

I was sick of our Dyson’s sulky temperament so I bought a Shark after reading millions of reviews. It’s ok but a sort of pathetic hairdryer type suction. The power apparently goes up and down according to how much crap there is. I never quite know if it’s even done anything. I have purchase regret now after reading about the Miele. ☹️
