working all the hours possible for half a decent wage. On top of the daily work grind there is also daily chores :
dinners to make
dishwasher to load/unload
kitchen to clean/tidy/close down each day
make beds
general tidying
various whatsapp/email/text messages to respond to every day and on-going conversations with friends in whatsapp etc

also to factor in during the week:
lifts for young people
clothes washing/drying/putting away (I refuse to iron)
food shopping
socialising
gym/exercising
hobbies
seeing/keeping in contact with family
life admin
any appts for me and DC
chasing homework/reading school emails & correspondence
appts/paperwork for me & DC
cleaning

I cannot keep up with it all.

When is there time to just sit back and enjoy life ?or is that only for the 1 or 2 weeks a year that you might be lucky enough to be able to afford to go away and have a holiday ? even then I still have a light tidy of the room/apartment every day inc hanging out towels and swim wear to dry for the next day, packing bag pool/beach bag each day, handing out all the random things I remembered to pack but no one else did eg mail clippers, plasters, cotton buds, nail file

In my case when I’m 67 😞

Not even then I’m afraid.

I do often wonder this OP.
Being stuck on a treadmill, especially the older I get.
In particular the cycle of commercial “holidays” … Christmas, Easter, Halloween…
They seem to lose more meaning as time marches on.

Op I’ve started trying to enjoy life more- trying to add some little things to a day, trying to make sure the odd day off means I actually go to meet someone for a laugh, or go for a walk somewhere cool etc etc. Also on the cool thread about good advice from mn there were two I disagreed with - one was do something while you’re waiting for the kettle to boil, the other was clean the bathroom while you’re watching your kids in the bath. I think we need to start trying to spend some time in every day in the first case just bloody staring into space, in the second enjoying watching our kids and not trying to get more done

If you're socialising, doing hobbies and going to the gym then that's your enjoyment "part" in life surely?

Your children must be older teenagers or adults. Are they still at home? Why do they not help out?
