Tried to get a parking ticket waived

DC goes to swimming lessons every week. The car park is run by the local council and we have to pay.
I usually pay every week via the app. I have been doing this for 3 years.
Last week I completely forgot, and as a result returned to a parking ticket on my car. My mistake, fair enough really.

I thought it was worth a shot at kindly asking for it to be waived. I sent an email apologising , explaining it was a genuine, one off mistake and that I was not deliberately avoiding payment, along with proof of my 3 years of weekly payments, and whether they would consider in this circumstance to let me off.

It was a no.

Worth the shot at least?! I will be sure not to forget again!

Sorry girl, they will not waive it 😪 x

I've just submitted an appeal against a ticket for parking outside of the bay, out side of my house where I lived for 5 years. I know it will be refused but its the principle.

Parking ticket people are over zealous, commission motivated people, who are managed by cash strapped councils, it's a nightmare

Edit, definitely worth a shot though

So frustrating! Kind of makes me want to be petty and from now on park around the corner and walk the extra distance 😂

I get the frustration and totally with you but can see the other side of the coin. Imagine how many CFs would email daily pleading ignorance ‘oops sorry my bad’, knowing full well what they’ve done and it would be a nightmare to manage.

I am assuming that you are in England or Wales.

I am sorry to say that it unlikely that a council will budge. Penalty Charge Notices have real power. It is why the private companies have PCN in big letters on their notices. It stands for Parking Charge Notice and has no real legal power - it is contract law.
