Help - fly infestation.

Over last few days big chunky flies have been coming into the house (various tiny gaps - old house).

We have decking just outside our patio doors and there must be something decaying under it. I could spot a few flies crawling on decking yesterday.

How do I break the breeding cycle?

Will spraying fly spray into cracks of decking help? Or putting something like bleach down?

Can't currently lift decking up as allowed nextdoor to put scaffolding onto our property (another story...)

All recommendations very welcome!

Raid fly & wasp spray is so effective that a fly landing on a window, a week after another fly was sprayed there, dies.
Definitely worth spraying in the cracks.

I sympathise. We returned from a 2 week holiday once and the entire house was filled with big blue bottles and a decaying mouse under the kitchen cabinets covered in maggots. I'd never noticed fly poo before- but every window, wall, the ceiling and indoor plants had fly poo all on them. 🤢

Is there any way to remove just 1 panel from the side of the decking and use a rake to drag out the dead thing?

Google says boiling water or vinegar can kill maggots too. I think I'd attack with everything- plus fly spray between the crack. You might be able to attach a straw onto the end of the nozzle- to get the spray closer to the carcass. Good luck.

Urgh @Darkclothes that's so grim.

Today I'm fly spraying the decking to the amusement of the workmen nextdoor.

Still appearing but very dazed so the spray must be getting to them.

I sympathise. We had a lot of work done on our house last year and have been plagued by blue bottle flies since then. They seem to gather by one particular window, but it's a constant stream of them!

I find these plants really work, I got some in our local garden centre, get a good sized one. There are other types but I find this variety works best
