Have been feeling queasy for the past few days. Sore head too but I can power past that to an extent.
All I want to do is sleep but I need to get back to work tomorrow and do all the associated prep tonight, get kids ready for school etc.
What could I take /eat /drink that would chase this off? Paracetamol has done nothing, I feel so grubby. Have not been sick and don't feel like I will be.

Your body’s telling you to rest. Get your partner or someone else to do the school prep and take the day off work tomorrow. Email them now. One day might be all you need to feel better.

Failing that, lots of water and an early night.

ChompinCrocodiles · 21/04/2025 17:36

Paracetamol is for pain or fever. It's not going to have any effect on tiredness or sickness.

Agree with the pp. Lots of water and as much rest as possible.

StartingAgainFGS · 21/04/2025 17:37

No partner, and unfortunately this is my last day of annual leave, so a sick day tacked on at the end would go down like a bag of shite!
Have been drinking loads of water but head still thumping

What is it that you need to actually sort for school? I’m presuming uniforms are all done, if they are young enough that you need to sort bags for them I’d guess they’re young enough to not need much. If they’re old enough to need specific books etc then they can sort them out themselves.
Maybe give yourself a half an hour window to sort as much as you can but then just chill out and lie down.

Daisy12Maisie · 21/04/2025 17:43

I feel unwell as well. Teenager is eating left overs from the fridge and I’m in bed. Harder if your kids are little.
Do you have anything easy they can have for once eg cereal, beans on toast. It won’t hurt them for once. Also, if you need to phone in sick then it shouldn’t matter as long as you don’t do it regularly.
Hope you feel better soon.

Leafy3 · 21/04/2025 17:45

Painkillers won't help at all and ibuprofen should be avoided if you have gut distress.

I'm feeling very quesy today, think it's a weekend of rich food catching up with me!

Peppermint tea helps, or ginger if you have it.

StartingAgainFGS · 21/04/2025 17:51

Oh thank you re ibuprofen tip will avoid. I don't have teas unfortunately.
Kids are big enough to do most of it themselves thankfully. Have sent them to sort uniforms etc while I make packed lunches. Yuck!
Any other miracle cures gratefully received!
I never call in sick normally but have had one significant period of absence due to a medical condition so I'm still on a shaky peg after that. Certainly can't take a day just for feeling rough.
Actually feel hungover, which I am certainly not!

I have regular nausea - side effect of a medication so I'm rough for a good 24/36h each week after taking it. I feel "hungover" / like I have "morning sickness" every bloody week.

I find travel sickness bands help. Also eating little and often, lots of rest and hydration. Also ginger biscuits help.

Growsomeballswoman · 21/04/2025 18:28

Have you got a CO monitor?

ToBeOrNotToBee · 21/04/2025 18:29

I had/have this.
2 days of feeling almost hungover, followed by a day with a permanent headache which ended in the evening. However the headache was swapped with the trotts which started at around 11pm last night.
I feel like a wreck but hopefully I'm on the mend. Hoping yours also doesn't develop into a belly thing either. Rest up and take it easy.

animalculous · 21/04/2025 18:30

If you have some isopropyl alcohol, give that a sniff and it'll relieve the nausea.

StartingAgainFGS · 21/04/2025 18:35

@Crunchymum I was just actually contemplating taking one of my kids travel sickness pills!
@ToBeOrNotToBee I've had that too💩
@animalculous I don't but think I do at work actually so will bear that in mind for tomorrow!

I find the bands more effective than the pills (for my needs at least)

Hope you feel better soon.

StartingAgainFGS · 21/04/2025 19:57

@Crunchymum I'm going to get some of them, they worked v well when I was pregnant
Actually wondering if this is hormonal
