Love this. What an amazing woman. I think I'd volunteer for a different activity on the day if this was my life 😂 but kudos to all the other runners taking part.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce running on grass track

Olympic legend leaves parents in her dust at school sports day

The third-fastest woman in history, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, took part in sports day at her son's school in Jamaica.

I would have lived to have run against her. Od have finished three days later but my god i would be dining out on the story of racing an olympian in my retirement home.

MyUmberSeal · 18/04/2025 19:59

All the other mums competing must have felt properly naff and inadequate 🤣.

Fair play to her, she gave them all a show they won’t forget.

elliejjtiny · 18/04/2025 20:02

Awesome. My son wanted to compete in the Dad's/male carers race at his brother's primary school in the hope of winning as he is younger than any of the Dad's and a keen runner but they stopped doing it for health and safety reasons.

Veggielepsy · 18/04/2025 20:03

Bloody Nora, she must've been home, dry and handing out the orange squash by the time the others had reached full pace! Makes you appreciate the work that calibre of athletes put in as the other mums didn't look bad runners (by non Olympian standards!).

JaneJeffer · 18/04/2025 20:07

Have a day off

caringcarer · 18/04/2025 20:13

Good on her for joining in for her DC.

The school where I worked stopped the Dad's race in the 80s. It was terrifying.

Brilliant. Just shared with my triathlete daughter 🤣

Bruisername · 18/04/2025 20:17

Des o Connor told a story of how he was determined to take part in the dad’s race because he was an older father and didn’t want to let his kid down. As he lined up waiting for the starting pistol he turns to his left and sees Linford Christie

milleniumstar · 18/04/2025 20:17

This is what I think I will be like but in reality I get over excited and fall over

stargirl1701 · 18/04/2025 20:17

What a great story for the other mums!

😂😂

I love this. Imagine going home and saying you just raced against her Grin It really puts into perspective how far above the norm Olympians are, it’s harder to see when they are racing very fast people!

Gundogday · 18/04/2025 20:31

Liked how she appeared to be going at full pelt, rather than at a slower pace. Good for her!

Beanie12345 · 18/04/2025 20:34

I saw an article which said another parent had Sent her photos of them in the gym saying they were coming for her! Brilliant. She said she thought she’d have been banned from the start line but hasn’t so would be defending next year. God on her for committing, assistant she did a good warm up but I very want going full pelt! Love it.

I know right, they weren't far behind!

Haha I love that. All sounds very good humour. If I took part I'd be like ' yeah I let her win' 😂

At one school I worked at, one man in the father’s race was so determined to win, that he wore spikes, limbered up beforehand and went so fast that he couldn’t stop at the end, hurdled the judge’s table, scattering judges everywhere and gradually ran out of steam at the far end of the field.
