is this pelvic prolapse, what can I do to help myself

I'm pretty sure that I have pelvic prolapse. I have an appointment with GP in a couple of weeks but looking for advice in mean time

situation is...I had retocele after episiotomy 19 years ago and had partial hysterectomy 8 years ago. big bulge in vaginal wall where faeces collect and leak (sorry tmi 🤮☹️). urinary urge incontinence and constant leaking. blood in urine and recurrent thrush (hot mess).I sometimes have lower abdominal/pelvic pain

I thought I would do some pelvic floor exercises because pretty sure that is all go will recommend. but wow, the pain today is off the scale after really really gentle exercises yesterday. do I just have to exercise through it and eventually it will improve? it really REALLY hurts to contract my pelvic floor today 😭

So sorry to hear this @dontforgetnow

Not the same situation but I had a prolapse after DC2 and the best thing I found was working on my core - while pelvic floor stuff tightens up those specifc muscles, I found doing the plank and building up each day made a much more noticeable difference.

As I said, this was immediately post birth so things were moving around a bit more anyway and it bothers me less now but it was very uncomfortable and upsetting at the time and I really feel your pain! Hope it improves soon.

Honestly, I would seek medical help now. I delivered vaginally, two large ish babies, one with a week long early labour and a blocked bladder issue. Eventually I wound up with episiotomy, tearing, stress incontinence, rectocele prolapse and possible bowel intussusception (telescoping bowel). I sought medical treatment when dd (my second child) was about 3. She's 5.5 now, and I am just now getting the treatment I need. So far i have had gynae physiotherapy, a pessary, a prescription for duloxetine, bulkomid injections last week and am now waiting for investigations with the bowel clinic after my first appointment with them this week. I've been on their waiting list 2 years.

The issues you have will not be resolved with pelvic floor exercises, although they will help. But there are other interventions out there which can make things much better. For example, the bulkomid injections have dramatically improved my stress incontinence, I can sneeze, run and jump without leaking now. And they were relatively easy to have done, recovery was really quick and they have made a world of difference.

Don't wait to get help, it tales forever and you have to push for it, but your life can be made a lot better.

Sorry I see you are waiting on a gp appointment. That's good. In the meantime take the pelvic floor exercises slowly, do them.sitting down rather than standing, and build up your strength gradually, the same as you would with any other strength exercise.

You need far more help than that which pelvic floor exercises can give you.

I can't believe they are leaving you like that. I hope they sort you out. I had a massive collapsed stomach wall for 10yrs after giving birth to my twins. Just managed to get NHS to sort it out after kicking off. They left all the extra skin hanging around but feel like I can't complain about that. I think try to kick off they won't do anything if you don't complain.

thank you all for replying, I appreciate it. @katmarie I'm really sorry, sounds like you have been through it.

I had no idea there were actual treatments besides pelvic floor exercises and loose weight, so I feel much more optimistic now. I will research those things you have talked about. I like the sound of bulkomid injections. I'm so fed up with peeing myself. it started as a mild inconvenience but I don't like going anywhere now. I have had a couple of really embarrassing full bladder expulsions, one in Lidl

@TronaldDump I think core strengthening is a really good idea rather than pelvic floor, until I can get guidance with that. the pain has gone today but clearly something is not right. it felt like it was in some kind of spasm all day yesterday
