Just driven home, car radio on and up popped a song that brought me right back to a really happy time of my life.

I Can Make You Feel Good 1982 by Shalamar. I was 23 years old and this was my anthem for that year. I've got it on repeat now and I've got all my old photos out too from that period.

Summer of 1976, long, hot days that seemed to go on for ever. Was around 20, carefree, single but dating. Good times.

Enola Gay and anything else by OMD, saw them in concert, they were amazing. Sometimes by Erasure. And the whole For Those About To Rock album by ac/dc, they were brilliant in concert. That Iron Maiden album, run for the hills? The 80s were so fun.

Back to Life by Soul II Soul. The vacation of my second year at uni, in the USA on a student exchange havingva ball in New York, about to start the third year which changed my whole life, out in the clubs till 4 in the morning, and this absolute banger was all over the city making me proud to be a Brit.

The background song to my hot summer of 1976 was Don’t go breaking my heart ( Elton John and Kiki Dee). It was number one for six weeks and was played everywhere.

Club Tropicana Drinks Are Freeeeee! Or anything else by Wham really.

We watched the film Fountain of Youth the other evening. The end credits play 'Live Forever'. If asked for the song of my youth I'd never have picked that but my daughters were fascinated that even though I don't remember hearing it for years I could still sing every word. It then sent me down one of those rabbit holes of playing more Oasis for the girls, then various other memories from my youth. My 11 and six year old daughters loved it, husband and I sat outside singing along and watching the two of them dance along for hours. We also introduced them to such 'classics' as MC Hammer, Vanilal Ice, Return of the Mack, Soul II Soul and Summertime. We all stayed up long past bedtime and had such a lovely evening.
