SNL Aimee Lou Wood sketch

I've not seen the sketch but I have read Aimee Lou's reaction to it.
As a person with a wide gap in my front teeth I was constantly mocked and bullied as a child and teenager back in the seventies and eighties. This has had an impact on my life, although, now in my fifties I know longer give a fuck about what people think of my looks.

However, for me, this just represents the attitude that is still alive and appears to be thriving that taking the piss out of someone's appearance is acceptable, it's not funny, it's bullying.

I think America is confused they find her attractive but she doesn’t look like their ingrained belief of pretty. But the media love to do this, especially to women. They see success and have to bring it down.

I often like SNL comedy sketches (some more than others but that’s comedy), but this wasn’t comedy, just mean.

SNL is not “the media”. SNL is a pile of shite. I’ve seen more positive comments about her teeth than negative, especially on social media. I think it’s because she ‘owns’ her look.

I’d lump current affairs comedy into “the media” basket.

Maybe because they've not seen it?. It's kinda hard to have a strong opinion about something you haven't actually seen.

So if you not witnessed the bullying you don't have an opinion?

I've not seen the sketch so no, I wouldn't be able to give an opinion on it.

Whenever I've seen SNL, they are just losing their shit cracking up over their own jokes, which aren't funny. It's not slick or charming or clever, it's like a sixth form review (but not as good).
She did the right thing voicing her feelings on it, it was very lazy "comedy".

I haven’t seen the sketch but American comics have an awful history of mocking people eg Chelsea Clinton, Barron Trump…
