And nothing is shifting it

Massage, hot baths, cold baths, shaking, standing on it bending my ties back

Just ow!

Salty nuts or crisps. Both would help cramp butake sure it is only cramp and not anything else.

Google Eccentric heel drops. Do it gently.

BlueEyedBogWitch · 14/04/2025 03:35

Did they scan you?

I had a post-op DVT. It was the tiniest pain imaginable; just felt like someone twanged an elastic band against the back of my leg. I only mentioned it to the nurse because I’d been warned about the possibility of a clot.

No heat, no swelling, no redness. But they found it on an ultrasound.

If they didn’t scan you, I’d go to A&E.

Daisy95 · 14/04/2025 03:43

Did they actually take bloods for a d-dimes or scan you? Because if not they can’t examine for a clot! They said to be it was a calf strain I went back the next day as I wasn’t convinced and had a dvt.

neverwakeasleepingbaby · 14/04/2025 06:15

I would get a second opinion. The GP missed my DVT

stayathomegardener · 14/04/2025 06:28

Agreed it’s not clear if they have carried out the correct tests to rule out a clot.

TwinklyRoseTurtle · 14/04/2025 06:33

Can’t believe they didn’t do a blood test for D-Dimer 😳 it’s the only way to determine if you have a scan and with your symptoms you are showing all the red flags- i would see your own GP today for a second opinion, please don’t get the massage, if it is a DVT you will potentially move part of it and could result in a PE ( clot in lung)

Crunchymum · 14/04/2025 08:56

GP really should not have ruled out DVT on examination. Not with 6 day long cramp.

I'm incredibly surprised you weren't sent for at least a D-dimer blood test, which will clinically rule out DVT (or else indicate further testing is required)

Whoever you saw last night didn't do a very good job. I'd at least go back to my normal GP and see what they say.

Hollyhobbi · 14/04/2025 09:05

Op did they actually take blood for the d-dimer blood test?

Posts like this are just ridiculous and just fuel health anxiety, let alone added stress on an already creaking NHS and I speak as someone who is on life long blood thinners for a clot.

OP I would feel quite reassured in your position, obviously if things change or get any worse then go back but you know that.

Did they do the blood test?

I was just wondering that.

That post is actually spot on.

Oh pack it in.

I'm advising her to go back to her GP for a second opinion, not take her whole family off to A&E for the day.

I was in A&E about 6 weeks ago with suspected DVT and was advised on this by the staff who worked there. You can only clinically rule out DVT with a certain blood test. And if you present with any of the main DVT symptoms you need this blood test.

@gamerchick thank you for thinking of me despite your loss xxx

The out of hours was very careful checking me out, I don't have a dvt, I probably have a soft tissue injury presenting as cramp and I'm to use heat and massage

I was right to come to out of hours and if it happens again or if my leg swells over the next few days im to see someone again to be sure

Thanks everyone, sorry for whinging

This is exactly what they said to me after 2 days of cramp, I was back in A&E 2 days later for a D dimer test followed by a scan, and had a clot. As others have said, 6 days of cramp is not normal, you need a D Dimer test ASAP. My only symptom was cramp pain, no swelling, no redness, no heat, no family history, i was in my 20s, not obese, no long travel, my only risk factor was contraceptive pill, hence A&E doctor saying low risk, probably muscle injury.

Not swollen or hot, hard and a bit throbbing

Edited

Neither was my calf but i had a DVT. I would get it checked.
