Recycling Scheme At Boots - How Does It Work?

I keep seeing messages about two recycling schemes at Boots, one for used pill packets and one for used toiletries such as deodorant cans, toothbrushes etc.

From reading about it, it seems you take items into a participating store, scan them and you get Advantage points when you next spend £10. But could someone explain how this actually works? Used pill packets and toothbrushes don't have bar codes. Does that matter? Can you just take items in over a period of time, and then get a larger number of points when you spend £10, or is there some sort of limit?

I have read the information, several times, but I don't really understand it!

You take a photograph of each product, use the drop downs to categorise it and then they accept or decline it.
You take 5 accepted products to the collection point and say which ones you are depositing.
You then have 10mins to buy something for £10 or more to get your extra advantage points.
It is a bit of a PITA to be fair.
All the products have to be things you can recycle n your home recycling and be empty and clean

Oh and for toothbrush heads and razor blades it has to be the equivalent of a full pack so 4 of each or whatever way they are packaged counts as one item

Doesn’t sound great then. But thanks for explaining it.

Toothbrush heads can be logged individually.

Just in case someone is interested:

The photo upload takes ages as they also want to know the name of the medication/supplement and brand.

I had to wait 3 days for them to approve it.

The box in my Boots was very nicely hidden, I had to ask for it. You can scan a QR code for the points voucher.

The voucher is then valid for 3 days, you have to spend £5 min and you need to activate it first in the recycling app, then you have 30 minutes to shop and then get it scanned. The lady at the till said that the store normally does not participate in the voucher but when I said that I just dumped 25 blister packs into their box, she added it manually.

The box is just a big cardboard box with slits for the blister packs. Next time I just dump them without the whole palaver. I prefer to have them properly recycled as we create a decent amount of blister packs at the moment thanks to DH's medical condition but their system is not worth the £1 point voucher.

Yes, it is a massive faff and I mostly don't even try to get the voucher.
Last time I carefully photographed 5 items only for two of them to be rejected for no reason I could work out.
Very pleased to use the blister pack recycling, bigger superdrugs take them too.

I fix it once but was waaaay too much faff, and I think you have to spend the fiver within a very short time. I just take them in and dump them. Mind CV you I have a huge amount each month.
