I’m at a real all time low in life we’re I’m piling on weight but can’t seem to shift it. I’ve tried keto, fasting, slimming world, calorie counting, you name it but nothing really works for me and I am so fed up. I have just watched lots of you tube video on ultra processed foods and there link to obesity so I’m going to toss all my diet junk food and eat more whole foods to see how I go.

anyone else in the same situation?

Clean eating, weighing portions and walking.
I have 1/4 cup oats with water and 1 tablespoon dried cranberries for breakfast with a black coffee.
Lunch is a thin bagel with a cheese slice and tomato followed by an apple:
snack is another piece of fruit .
dinner is low fat, low sugar and cooked from scratch.
Low fat yogurt to follow dinner.
2 litres of water a day and 2 walks a day of at least 3 km each.
I monitor my intake on the my fitness pal app and aim to be in a deficit of 1200 kj .
I have finally lost the 12 kg I needed to lose and my hips, knees and back are thanking m Ed.
Good Luck

Thank you for sharing your experience and well done to you. I am going to make more of an effort to eat simple, clean and healthy foods and spend time thinking and planing my meals. I simply cannot go on the way I’m going or I’ll be enormous and immobile.

Strict calorie counting. Using more than I’m eating so I know I’m on a deficit. No gimmicks or diets or cutting out entire food groups. Making sure I’m eating plenty of protein and nutrient dense, low calorie as-whole-as-practicable foods. Still allowing myself a bit of chocolate if I want it, or a glass of wine but including that in my calorie counting for the day / week.

did that a lost weight

I lost a significant amount of weight when dairy free

sillyfrilly · 13/04/2025 09:01

That’s interesting…. Are you intolerant to diary? Or did you consume a lot of it in high calorie products? Well done on your loss that’s amazing 🤩

Calorie counting combined with cutting out UPF foods. Low carb used to work well for me but as I am getting older I need more carbs and end up with intense cravings that derail me. Last year I had a lot of success with eating a really clean whole foods diet and calorie counting. I didn’t lose weight especially fast, but what I did find was I could actually stick to it consistently, and those 1/2lb- 1lb losses add up. The days of losing 4lbs in a week are totally over for me!

fox919 · 13/04/2025 09:05

No I’m not but was breastfeeding and ds had suspected cmpa so I went dairy free for about a year or so. I eat a hell of a lot of chocolate and cheese so must have cut an incredible amount of calories just on not eating them. I think I lost about 3 stone

sillyfrilly · 13/04/2025 09:08

@thenewaveragebear1983 this is me too. I used to do weight watchers when I was in my early 20s and lost about 2 stone very easily (I wasn’t even heavy at all at that point) but age makes it harder and it’s incredibly depressing when nothing fits and you hate buying the bigger size ☹️

I have. I've lost over 12 stone and just got to my target weight. It has taken me a while - about 4 years, but I did have a year off in the middle - but I'm so happy with my progress that I don't care how long it took!

I just did calorie counting. At first I ate whatever I wanted as long as it fit into my allowance, but then later I started to focus more on eating protein and vegetables.

annonymousse · 13/04/2025 09:34

I'm doing a low carb/high protein diet with strength training with a PT. Prior to starting this I was dieting for 6 months and just maintaining. Pre-menopause I could lose weight so easily and followed slimming world but my body has changed and it just doesn't work for me any more.
