Anyone else never had a UTI? Or am I the weird one.

I'm curious to see if I'm in the minority here.

I met up with some friends today and one of the group had to cancel due to a uti. I mentioned that I'd never had one and everyone seemed quite shocked.

Is it weird that I've never had one? How common are they? Am I maybe having them without knowing, like is it possible to be asymptomatic?

Everyone else I've asked seems to have experienced one at some point in their lives, why haven't I?

Never had one. DP gets one every couple of years. Unusual but not unheard of in men. He has also found that it doesn’t show up in a test until it’s really got a hold, even though he recognises the symptoms very quickly.

Ive only ever had a UTI when in a relationship. I never get one when Im single.

Tendency toward water infections can change as people get older. Men often have a larger prostate that can stop the bladder emptying fully. And post menopause, women can be more susceptible.

Symptoms can change too in older age, so it's not always pain that alerts you to something wrong. Sudden disorientation or behaviour changes in a person over 70 are a good reason to check for UTI.

Tmi but occasionally my pee smells a little bit erm ... More fragrant... For want of a better description I sometimes wonder if that's a UTI as it isn't cycle specific.
Obviously I'm clearly a scientist (not)

I have had rotten UTIs since I was a teenager. If left untreated, it is agonising and has infected my kidney in the past to the extent I have been hospitalised. You are really lucky if you don't have them. I also can't take statins because they trigger an episode of UTI. And forget having a nice sex life. Utterly miserable.

So far I haven’t as far as I remember. One of my daughters is prone to them though and has had meds several times in the last few years. She tends to hold her wee though whereas I’m always nipping to the toilet, I often wondered if that was why I haven’t .

I’m 66. Never had one.

I have duplex kidneys, and that makes me more prone to get them. If you have never had one, you are very lucky!

(I have never had toothache, though.)

I have had two - one after my only vaginal birth and one when trying a moon cup. Both awful - really painful with frequency and urgency. I think myself lucky there were obvious causes and I won’t be doing either thing again! My DM and DD have had them more frequently and randomly - poor them.
