Have you become fussy about food in your old age?

I used to eat anything but I have become quite fussy in recent years. I don’t eat fast food or takeaways (not even chips), not so keen on seafood and I can’t look at an egg. I’ve just eaten mushrooms and didn’t enjoy them so I won’t be having them again. I’ve even gone off coffee.

I’m not really keen on eating out any more as sometimes I can’t find anything I like and then it’s a waste of money.

Is anyone else like this and is it weird or normal?

Not happened to me.
Not seen it in anyone I'm close enough to notice either.

Only in 70s plus I’ve noticed people stop eating certain foods and not being able to eat huge amounts like they used to

Well yes I am one of those who finds certain foods offputting for me. In my defence I had a perforated ulcer (serious stuff) and since I got over that my tastes for certain things and capacity has totally waned.

I'm not worried about it at all now, but I used to hate going out to dinner or for lunch etc. and always checked the menu online to see if there was anything on there that I fancied and could eat. If there wasn't, I'd have soup as a main and a dessert. For some strange reason 😉I never had a problem with pudding/dessert so I rarely went hungry!

It was a bit awkward when out for a meal though, as I felt I was attention seeking when trying to decide what to have. That and the fact that I couldn't eat a full portion and was mortified that I left so much on the plate, and then having to explain AGAIN.

But I don't care so much now, I realise that in the general scheme of things, my illness that caused the food thing is not much different from those who are coeliac, or intolerant of this or that, or have allergies. At home I just know exactly what appeals to me and stock up on that.

Believe me OP, you are not alone!

If this is a new thing for you make sure you get some bloods done at the doctors - loss of appetite is one of the first signs of many things that may need checking out.

No but every year , more foods hate me and give me stomach pain. I love curries, nions, garlic, cheese... And now I have gastritis, diverticular disease.
I still LIKE everything...it just doesn't like me!
