13 yr old dd is v particular about the tops she wants to wear. She wants loose fitted long, or 3/4 length sleeve summer casual wear to go with jeans.
Help please and suggest where I can find a good range.

what sort of size is she wearing? There's a big variety in 13yr olds, some are barely out of kids sizes and some are bigger than a lot of adults. There's lot of baggy fit shirts and t-shirt type tops on the high street at the moment.

I’m buying her age 13 stuff but she’s complaining that stuff is too tight. It’s not but I think she’s sensitive about her developing body.
We can’t seem to find good, loose, light clothes for the summer. She also doesn’t like many patterned stuff and definitely not anything flowery.
High street shops don’t seem to have much she likes.

Following as would also like to know, finding it hard to find baggy fit clothes for same age DD

Ddakji · 10/04/2025 14:22

DD gets baggy T shirts from HMV. She’s also got a couple of loose American football style tops from Primark and Urban Outfitters.

Baninarama · 10/04/2025 14:40

H&M, Stradivarius, Brandy Melville, Urban Outfitters, plus have a look on Depop

Verbenabon · 10/04/2025 14:47

Uniqlo could be a good one to try. Looser fits and airism/ dry range are great for lightweight softer fabrics. My daughter is either in 11-12 kids or XS or even S female for certain styles

MiddleAgedDread · 10/04/2025 14:51

if you just want plain t-shirts try M&S or Sainburys, or small mens sizes if they want them really baggy.
Hollister and Superdry for hoodies. Hollister have lots of shirts in at the moment and some cardigan / zip up hoodie type tops but the t-shirts and vests tend to be quite fitted.
H&M, Primark, Uniqlo......

I recently went to Newlook with my DD who wears 12-13 and they had some decent stuff.

lavenderlou · 10/04/2025 17:27

My DD who also only wears very loose baggy clothing shops in primark or H&M. H&M has size 14+ - buy things in an "oversized" style if she likes loose fitting. Primark she wears XS/S/M adult size depending how loose she wants it. You may need to go to some shops so she can try out sizing. They have loads of plain t-shirts.

beetr00 · 10/04/2025 17:30

if you don't mind a bit of a rummage @foghead, TK Maxx is quite good.

foghead · 10/04/2025 19:04

Thanks. We had a look in new look, Primark, H&M, TK Maxx and found nothing.
She has lots of hoodies, but doesn’t want any of her t shirts anymore because they’re too tight or the sleeves are too short.
She is happy to wear her older brothers t shirts but they look a bit ridiculous on her and he’s not too thrilled about it.
I’ll look in the other shops mentioned but having a look online, Mango seemed to have things she liked.

That’s a shame. They are definitely out there because DD is a fan of the oversized top and has quite a few. She does like graphics though, which your DD might not - so band T shirts, Hello Kitty, Mickey Mouse etc. All big and baggy with proper sleeves.

MiddleAgedDread · 10/04/2025 19:59

Are you looking in the kids / teens or adults ranges? M&S had relaxed fit style T-shirts in our little store that’s just a food shop with small clothing section tagged on. If age 13 is too tight or small she definitely needs to be in the ladies ranges, probably a size 8 or maybe 10.

Not sure if there's a Select near you, not normally a shop I go in, but my friend had 4 girls, 2 teens, and they all seem to agree with Select clothing !

FondantFancyFan · 10/04/2025 20:13

Try sportswear brands like Adidas, Nike, Puma etc. Uniqlo is also a good shout as well.

Justyouwaitandseeagain · 10/04/2025 20:17

Look at the boys section too. Sounds like she might prefer the boy cut/fit.

foghead · 10/04/2025 22:38

Thanks. Her usual clothes aren’t tight on her at all but she feels they are. I’ll check out boy cuts but she does like nice tops that are more feminine but they have to be 3/4 or long sleeve, light material for summer, plain and simple so no frills or bows.
Ill just start looking at womenswear I think.

Try ASOS

Airwaterfire · 10/04/2025 23:23

Agree with Uniqlo or M&S — I like the quality of just the plain cotton M&S white multipack T-shirts they sell for PE kit - but DD uses them as baggy T-shirts and to sleep in. The cotton quality is really good.
