How to sell a vintage chair that's worth a few bob?

I've just found out that a vintage Eames era chair I have at home is worth £1000 plus. I'd like to sell it, any pointers on the best way?
I'm not sure eBay would work as I'd need to sort delivery...pick up only never gets a good price
So auction maybe? I don't think my local auctioneers would get the best price either as they shift random junk mostly. But maybe it's not valuable enough for a specialist auctioneer?
Or I could approach an antique or vintage dealer...but I'd have to sell at a lower price.
Any suggestions welcome, thanks.
I've had this chair years, I got it for a couple of quid from a junk shop! I do love it but really only use it to chuck clothes on in my bedroom, I don't have anywhere in my small cottage where I can make the most of it really.

For over a thousand pounds, I think it would be worth your while to arrange a courier if you want to sell on Ebay.

Otherwise, look for a decent auction house that offers online bidding. You will probably find one not too far away from you. An item of that value would certainly be of interest to a good general auction house. Personally, for something of that value, I would go with a good auction house rather than Ebay (because of the risk of being scammed on Ebay).

But you say you love it ... it's a shame to sell something that you love. Can't you just continue to love it, even if it's just sitting in a corner?

Vinterior and arrange a courier. Just be v careful to describe it accurately- ie is it actual Eames or a replica from that era? Can you date it accurately? Use a lot of photos including any of any scratches or marks so people can’t say it wasn’t described accurately.

Thanks both for your posts, v helpful.
Re dating it, I'll look further in to that. I just know it is an original and not a copy.
Re keeping it, I may, but I could do with the cash to be honest

No advice but lucky you OP! How did you find out it is worth so much? Hope you get a good price for it!

Decent auction house that specialises in furniture. Not a "general" auction house that sells anything.

I chanced upon a picture of an identical one online and gawped at what they were asking for it (too much) then did a bit of research

I’d get a realistic valuation and let it go to a suitable auction - with a minimum selling price.
