Moving to Norwich nr2 or nr3

we are soon to be moving to Norwich and don’t know it’s superrrr well yet. We will be renting before we buy to make sure we pick the right area for us. We are moving in June and have a 2 and 4 year old
ds will be starting school this year so we will be late applicants as we currently live in Hertfordshire.

we are looking at nr2 or nr3… I need to get to the uni and dh works from home! Which area would you choose to live?
also any recommendations for schools with connecting pre school/nurseries would be great too!

thanks in advance!

Definitely NR2

I live in NR4. NR2 is ok but overpriced and high burglary rates, most people live in NR2 because of the schools, basically. NR3 could be better than NR2 if you are car-dependent. What is your budget when you buy later (It sounds like buying is part of the plan). Will you be frequent car-users? living in NR2 & using a car a lot is a total pain.

You could easily get from NR2 to the UEA without a car though. If I was doing that I would cycle.

@UEAStaff oh interesting! I need to get to the N&N for uni and work too so I will probably need to use the car to get there…
our budget is around £300-350k ideally

we like to walk wherever possible (we love to cycle etc too) but will need a car for work and uni I’m assuming

There is a fairly simple cycle route from the Avenues (heart of NR2) to the N&N, via heart of UEA campus (Chancellors Drive). I mean, there's some complaint about the Colney Lane RAB recent changes from Norwich cycling campaign, but there is cycle path on pavement anyway to avoid being in the RAB. I strongly recommend avoiding Earlham Rd at rush hour, in meantime, which is only way you'd drive from NR2 to the N&N.

parking charges on campus for UEA staff are £5/day.

£2/day is parking charge (i think) at triangle car park (muddy slope down the congested Earlham Road) which is possibly further walk from main campus than parts of NR2.

@UEAStaff thank you! This is all really helpful!

On facebook is a group called something like "Secret Norwich Recommends" only it's not so secret. You could post your queries there for a ... diversity of opinions. Take the replies as light-hearted.
