But will it wear off?

When I was married, I quite often sent DH for a shower....because he needed it.

New DP often has a slight body odour towards the end of the day, after exercise, or because it's been a hot and sweaty day. He doesn't use deodorant, but does shower daily.

I love the smell of him, even/especially when he's smelly.

familiarity breeds contempt.

If you are with DP as long as you were with ExDH, I imagine you would end up sending him for a shower or telling him to start using deodorant.

He's smelly because he needs deodorant.

He's smelly because he needs deodorant.

Does he? He doesn't smell "bad", or at least not to me, and you'd have to be pretty close to notice. Should a clean body need deodorant? There are lots of health concerns around it (although I've never been brave enough to go without)

Health concerns about what? He doesn't need it if he's happy to continue to be sweaty but needs to be fair to the people around him. Why do you use it then?

You’ve probably gone nose blind. He will smell, you just can’t or refuse to smell it now.
