We are travelling up north, via Birmingham. Does anyone have any recommendations of somewhere fun and easy to visit for children aged 9 and 12 years old for a few hours? Ideally, just off the M42/M6. We like National Trust Places, wildlife, science and playparks.

Millennium point in Birmingham is just off the M6 and great. Loads of NT places too. What about Warwick Castle?

Atwell Farm, it’s just off j3 of the M42

I have kids but at 9 and 13 they’re a bit old for Atwell Farm

We loved this place ://www.birmingham.gov.uk/conservationpark!
Small and cheap but we enjoyed a few hours there on a trip over from Dublin !
Loved the BacktoBacks also but did I hear they had closed ?

They’re still open but I’ve just looked and there aren’t many tickets remaining for the next few weeks.

Habberley Trail if the weather is nice. Our kids (cousins aged 7 to 13) had a great time there last summer. It’s pretty cheap, the adults can walk alongside as the kids do the obstacle course and activities, great views, nice ice cream shop.

I did the back to backs a couple of weeks ago. Make sure you book. A few people turned up without booking and the bloke on the desk wouldn’t allow them on the tours.

Not directly on m42 but not far we did the MAD museum at Stratford upon Avon which was great, we also did a tour of royal Shakespeare
