I’m 32 and I’m just worried about always having to show a deed poll every time I need something doing like important paperwork. I also work in retail and the workers are gossipy/bitchy and they will definitely think i’m odd for changing my name. I’m worried how this will come across at work. I also have a baby brother who is 3 years old will the change be confusing for him or will he pick it up easily?
Also it’s just plain embarrassing to keep telling friends/family members actually I go by this now.

Also what if I just regret it? (i’m pretty sure I won’t i’ve always hated my name)

However, I just don’t like my name

Then change it, you only get one life, be happy

Is it much hassle would you say? or is it simple as ticking a box and announcing my old name or do I have to give my deed pill every time

When it's something like a new passport, drivers license, credit check, birth certificate etc, you have to provide your original birth certificate (proof of original name) and also your deed poll with proof of new name. Some also require extra evidence to provide proof you live under the new name, a council tax letter or bank details in the new name.
Granted mine is such a huge hassle because I have 4 names, so it creates huge problems for me. 1 name change would be manageable, but yes you need to keep it and use it as proof of identity when needed.

I changed my first name three years ago and it was easy.

No problems since except a couple of relatives who can't seem to manage to remember my new name - bit shit but I just ignore it.

Once you have a driving license or passport in your new name, everything else just falls into place.

Do it!
