Suncream recommendations

CosyNavyLeader · 08/04/2025 14:41

Can anyone recommend a suncream for my very fair skinned teenage daughter?

She seems to have sensitive skin on her face and ends up with burnt blotchy patches on her skin.

Preferably one I can pick up in a supermarket and not order online as we are going away in a few days.

I was going to get P20 but thought I would see if there are any other recommendations out there.

Thankyou in advance.

Piz Buin Allergy is nice but I haven't used it on my face. I also like Ultrasun which does a range of sun lotions for face and body. I think the Factor 30 family cream is meant to be good for sensitive skin.

P20 is good but I prefer Altruist. I am very sensitive to most suncream and that's definitely been the best i've tried. You can get it on amazon with pretty quick delivery.

Tesco own brand is really good. I work outdoors and use their body and face sunscreen - cheap and does the job. It also doesn’t run or give me sore eyes from where it’s sweated off (like Nivea).

Ginger here. I also have ginger siblings and grand babies. The only one we use from years of trial is Altruist factor 50. The kids don’t mind the texture as it isn’t at all greasy or oily and it sinks in beautifully. It feels similar to Nivea face cream , smells good and best of all we have never had a burn providing we stick to the instructions to the letter. It’s created by skin cancer specialists and dermatologists and we find it works best if you apply it with one of those ultra soft baby sponges ( gives really full coverage). We keep the sponge in a sealed as ziplock bag.

I get my altruist f50 from Amazon but I’m sure it must come from other places too.

Altruist is excellent, and may I suggest Biore Aqua Rich for the face from Superdrug. Both factor 50 UVA and UVB.

GettingMySpringOn · 08/04/2025 15:53

Alturist amazon sell it

I really like Cerave for the face. But the Factor 50, not the factor 20.

I have sensitive skin and rate Boots soltan baby sensitive spf 50

Mulledjuice · 08/04/2025 16:05

The child's farm one is also supposed to be good if you can find ir

OakleyStreetisnotinChelsea · 08/04/2025 16:06

Another vote for altruist, it is fantastic. Failing that boots soltan is also very good but not the invisible spray one which doesn't seem as good.

Altruist currently 3 for 2 at Tesco. They do great SPF moisturiser and face serums too and you can get a massive pump bottle which is brilliant for keeping by the door at home to whack on.

Very fair skinned DS (4yo) with eczema uses La Roche Posay. It’s the only thing that doesn’t flair up his skin.

Will be looking into Altruist after all these recommendations!

Agreed!

It's what the dc's nursery used because more children were ok with it than any other they'd tried. We've used it ever since...dc are 16 and 13 now. DS(16) is very fair still.

CosyNavyLeader · 08/04/2025 19:10

Thanks so much everyone. Not heard of the Altruist brand. I will look it up.

Surprised there aren't more recommendations for P20. I thought that was the holy grail. And I can't for the life of me remember if my daughter got on with it or not last time we tried it. I've honestly lost track!
