Easter fun for a 2 year old?

Can all you imaginative people help me out with some lovely things I can do for my son on Easter day.

I'd like to do an easter egg hunt, but that's where my imagination stops. How do you make this fun for a young 2 year old (as in, not nearly 3)? He wouldn't understand clues, etc.

Any other things you've done to make easter fun, or things you've given that aren't just chocolate? I'm talking very much token things, not really gifts. I've already got him a couple of books and he'll have a little egg, plus whatever things I put for him to find on his hunt.

I'd considered egg decorating, but his attention span doesn't exist for arts/crafts at the moment so maybe better for that next year.

I'd do a teddy bears picnic in the garden. Mine at that age (and older) used to love it.

Picnic rug on the lawn with lots of cuddly toys gathered round and toy food of course and a picnic lunch for your child.

A great time to sing songs around the picnic rug.

A simple Easter egg hunt - plastic eggs filled with an Easter treat and hidden in the garden or around the house, church (even if you are not a churchgoer, Easter services tend to be busy, fun and family orientated, often with an Easter egg hunt), a nice meal, a walk somewhere, even if it's just the park and maybe making Easter nest rice krispie buns. Keep it really simple - he will remember the time spent with you, far more than any activities you did.

Take him to an animal farm and marvel at all the newly born baby animals.

DS turned 2 back in December.

He has a easter basket with bubbles, easter book, easter puzzle, sun hat, sun glasses, easter stickers, bath crayons, swim shorts and probably a few things that I'm forgetting.

We've also bought him a balance bike.

We'll do a easter egg hunt around the garden and then he'll get plenty of chocolate eggs from family as well I'm sure.

I used a ring bound set of laminated photos of parts of our house at that age - the fireplace/backdoor/washing machine etc then you can set up a treasure hunt almost instantly. (Place prize at final place then go to another place & place photo of prize location, etc then give child the photo of the first location & they're away)

Or chalk on slabs in the garden - jump from one to the other etc

Non chocolate prizes - play food eggs, chalk eggs, bouncy eggs, cuddly rabbit, wooden animals, "that's not my rabbit"

I have teens now & they still do an Easter treasure hunt with rabbit ears on 😁 (but I make them solve escape room type puzzles)

This is an amazing idea, OP!!! Totally do that! Take as many pictures as you can and make video with them to rewatch it years later. Here is a guide on making one, too.

If you're doing an easter basket, fill it with crayons, an easter book, crayons, puzzle, etc.

Collecting plastic eggs in a basket then dumping them out and repeating was loads of fun for that age. Save worrying about activities until they're harder to entertain

Oh this is great, thank you everyone. Some fab ideas, exactly what I was after.

We’ll almost certainly go for some walks and have a nice family meal at home but I think I’ll definitely throw a teddies bear picnic into the mix if the weather is nice.

The idea of printing photos for the egg hunt is genius. He will love that! I’m so glad I asked as I have time to get this done and I know he will love that.

I will also look at booking a visit to one of the little famed near us.

We did plastic eggs and put a sweetie in each one so it wasn't loads of sweets for him. Hid them in the garden and gave him a basket. We used the plastic eggs all through primary school.

You could also hide the wee fluffy chicks you can buy.
