Mumsnet is synonymous with lunacy. Discuss!

It won't let me read it without signing in What does it say ?

vodkaredbullgirl · 07/04/2025 08:43

Not subscribing to see it, what's it about?

ZenNudist · 07/04/2025 08:44

I find "discuss" puts me off doing just that

LikeABat · 07/04/2025 08:46

Should have been a sharing link. Quite hard to summarise.

Reads like an ai synopsis of mumsnet that someone has asked to be written in a colloquial style. In other words, bullshit fluff

Coffeeishot · 07/04/2025 08:49

I don't understand the summary maybe this isn't the thread for me, as an aside supporting women doesn't always mean you agree with them or think they are right.

LikeABat · 07/04/2025 08:50

The whole article is rather disjointed.

What a load of meaningless guff. If it’s not AI, the writer was high.

LikeABat · 07/04/2025 08:58

The statement in the article that Mumsnet is synonymous with lunacy seemed a bit extreme. I had not heard this before and wondered if anyone else had read the article and had an opinion on it. If you haven't read it or do have not opinion that's fine.

Isn’t Mn Madness like the Mn Reddit — just somewhere where people post and slag off particularly weird threads or trends? I don’t think anyone’s saying Mn is ‘synonymous with lunacy’ in general.

redcord · 07/04/2025 09:10

I'm not sure what your point is?

I have only read the screenshot (also not a fan of 'discuss') but in that, the author seems to be suggesting that 'mother' (and by default 'women') are often portrayed as responsible for society's ills, including, for example, childhood trauma. But why aren't dads blamed?

I mean, it's a fair point, in support of Mumsnet, actually.

But your title suggests that it is against MN and saying that it is a place of lunacy? Or does the article flip and come on to that?

Basically your title reads like rage-bait but the article seems more nuanced? From the clip I've read. Happy to hear your thoughts, OP.
