How much should I contribute?

I offered to pay for me and my mum. Altogether 4 adults and 2 kids. Meal came to £150. We all had the same amount of food and drinks including alcohol. Is £50 too much or too little?

Anyone?

Who do the kids belong to?

IllBeFrankYouBeBob · 06/04/2025 19:50

Well split 6 ways it's £25 each but that charging the kids the same as the adults which given alcohol was had that isn't fair

Unless there's a big drip feed coming id say that was too little

£50 for two adults would be too little, you’ve split the bill 6 ways which mean the kids would be the same cost as an adult but presumably would have kids meals and no alcohol. If they are much older kids/young adults then it would be fair enough though.

TidyDancer · 06/04/2025 19:50

How much of it was yours and your mum’s? What were the circumstances that lead to more people coming? What’s their connection to you?

SallyD00lally · 06/04/2025 19:51

Yes, assuming the kids didn't have alcohol and their meals might've been cheaper than the adults (you haven't said), I'd say it's too little too.

Pieceofpurplesky · 06/04/2025 19:51

Are They your kids? If not I would pay £60. Counting the kids as one adult.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 06/04/2025 19:52

Pay an amount that corresponds roughly to what you and your mum spent, plus any of the kids that are yours. And don't forget service charge/tip.

CaptainFuture · 06/04/2025 19:53

Who ate what? How old are the kids? A 5 yo won't eat as much as a 13 yo!

BlondeMummyto1 · 06/04/2025 19:53

You’re lucky to get two meals and two drinks for £50 when we go out.

Maybe order separately if it’s an issue.

Darkclothes · 06/04/2025 19:54

How old are the children? Toddlers or teenagers? Surely the kids didn't have the same amount of drinks including alcohol? Your OP isn't clear at all!

OatFlatWhiteForMe · 06/04/2025 19:54

£25 a head seems a lot for 2 kids. Either pay for what you and your mum had or perhaps a £65/85 split?

SheilaFentiman · 06/04/2025 19:57

Are you literally at the table now with the bill imminent?!

Mirren22 · 06/04/2025 20:00

Unless there’s an agreement that you don’t split it equally, why wouldn’t you pay for what you and your mum had to eat and drink?

SheilaFentiman · 06/04/2025 20:00

Would £30 per adult, £15 per child work? Then £60 for you and your mum, plus tip (or the other people might absorb the full
tip if the kids are on larger meals but no alcohol)

Whattodo2024 · 06/04/2025 20:12

Too little

Who do the kids belong to?

Sorry key info missed. They're not mine, they're my neices.

SchoolDilemma17 · 06/04/2025 20:20

Not enough info here. How much did the kids eat, how old?
i think you should have paid your and your mum’s food. £100 for 2 adults and 2 kids is a lot unless they had lots of booze too.

SheilaFentiman · 06/04/2025 19:57

Are you literally at the table now with the bill imminent?!

I hope not because with the lack of info from the OP, they'll be still there at breakfast! 🥓 🍳

Pipsquiggle · 06/04/2025 20:33

Did the DC have a 'kids menu' if so how much was that? Some DC meals are very cheap.
