Never used ebay or vinted before I want start selling things. Do I need to declare to hmrc. My items will be on the low side of prices.
These items were purchased by me or my dh.
Any advice to help me set up accounts or even to advertise the items.
Thank you for your help

The guidance here is very clear. If they're your own personal possessions that you are selling then it's very unlikely you'd need to declare the income. If you've bought items with the intention to sell them for a profit then you'd probably have to declare.

Check if you need to tell HMRC about your income from online platforms

Find out if you need to declare income from selling personal possessions, goods or services online, creating online content or renting out property using digital platforms.

My friends son's girlfriend has literally just had a letter from HMRC because she works full time and has been selling stuff on vinted. It's new stuff she's selling, so has to declare it.

The only reason you will need to know about the items purchased is that you claim the money you spent on them back as this is deducted from your profit.

It's not that it's new it's if she has only bought them to resell.

Very easy to set up an account on Vinted. Just upload photos and add description decided a price. It's good as the postage lable is done for you when sold. You just need to print off or use QR code. Been selling on ebay for years again easy to set up and to list

The personal Items you are re-selling have been bought out of your taxed income. These are
likely to be sold for less than your purchase price in any case.

You don’t need to declare your sales via these platforms unless you are running a business and buying new or second hand goods with the intention of making a profit and even then you have
a £1000 per annum allowance.
