Has anybody taken time off due to fatigue?

I've noticed that I'm extremely exhausted the week before my period. I think this is fairly new, but I basically lose my ell to live figuratively speaking).

Obviously I know I can't take days off every month, but I've noticed I really struggle

Yes and I had to actually stop working due to it in the end. It started a few years ago as period related anaemia and exhaustion for which nothing worked to alleviate symptoms. I was then diagnosed with endometriosis, then I had appendicitis due to the adhesions and was so unwell and developed chronic fatigue. It’s been hell. I wish initially I’d taken more days off to rest and pace myself than pushing harder as ultimately that has ruined the long term for me .

I have severe fatigue with my Rheumatoid Arthritis but I don’t think I’ve had time off work because it. They are very supportive at work so that does help.

I already WFH so apart from either "taking it easy" or taking time off I don't know what much else I could do.

I have mental fatigue too which doesn't help (and it's the main issue)

I have RA too and am fatigued after an infection so am off work today. I can’t get off the sofa and keep falling asleep.

Not what you asked but have you taken iron supplements. Surely getting to the bottom of it is better than resigning yourself to it and planning time off.

I also have RA, so have taken time off but the reason is the condition rather than one symptom. I do work less than full time to allow a bit of wiggle room, which I think is a better approach than lots of time off sick.

Occasionally, usually linked to post-asthma attack or depression.

Have you had your bloods checked recently? Could be anaemia.

Yeah just got them checked last week as I tend to be iron deficient, all good!

@LadyQuackBeth I’m seeing the GP this afternoon so was going to ask for some additional blood tests and look at iron.

I would love to work part time, I’ve been putting it off but I need to talk to HR/my boss.

If you are too tired to work then of course you should take it off, but only if due to health issues and not because you have had a busy weekend (something we have had to drum into dsd who moans she is exhausted but has a very active social life)

Nothing out of the extraordinary, but it's the 2nd time I've noticed it, and i see it's always around the date days of my cycle

I went through a phase where i would come from work at 7pm, sleep til around 11, have some food then sleep again til 7am. Weekends were spent entirely in bed other than a trip to the shop or preparing food. This went on for months and I was dragging myself through the day in a state, it was hellish. Despite giving every ounce of energy to my job I still performed poorly and it was noticed. It's years ago and I really really regret not taking long term sick leave and seeking medical help. I was in my early 20s trying to start a career and surrounded by ambitious people. I see now that I was foolish not putting my health first. My advice would be take sick leave and get help and hopefully soon you will find a way to manage it so you don't need sick leave all the time. But if you do you do. You'll have this body longer than this job

I live a fairly active life (and can maintain it!) for 23 days out of 30, it's just a few days before my period and my period that I feel like I can't be bothered with life, and would rather just chill and not have to use my brain.

It's always for the most part mental, not necessarily physical.
