Dh away seeing his mum who has not been well. All three kids provided modest but appropriate gifts - flowers, chocolate, nic nack. Dd made me a cup of tea this morning. I’ve made us a lunch I enjoy, had a nap. Now going to have apple pie and cup of tea. Maybe a little gardening later. Bath and bed. Bloody perfect.

Didn’t see my kids most of today as they were at their grandparents overnight and just got home. Still woke up to some lovely thoughtful gifts and a card. Lovely handmade gift from school too. Had a nice relaxing day the sun is shining and they’re home now doing homework. Looking forward to opening the wine later on!
Happy Mothers Day everyone 🌷 🌺

I'm happy too
DD home from Uni and her and Ds16 made me an afternnon tea. They (mostly) cooperated and tidied up nicely afterwards. I got flowere, cards and a voucher for my favourite beauty place
Me and DD just took the dog for a walk while DS revised and DH watched crap TV
I think a lot of disappointment comes from expecting too much, I just want us to all be together

Wishboneswishes · 30/03/2025 17:38

Gorgeous cards with heart felt messages and beautiful flowers from DS and DD who currently lives overseas. Lovely video call with her this morning. Lunch out with DH and DS and DGS. Little walk in sunshine this afternoon with DH, now sat in garden enjoying the first light evening of the year. Feeling very loved and very lucky.

SusanSHelit · 30/03/2025 17:38

I'm not with ds dad. Ds is 11 and picked out some very colourful flowers and got me a very sweet card. He's been on his absolute best behaviour today. He made me coffee, we had a very chill morning. He tidied up a bit without having to be asked and we've gone for a bit of lunch then go carting. Heading home soon, had a really lovely day!

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 30/03/2025 17:39

I’m out of the UK and was taken for lunch.

DancingDucks · 30/03/2025 17:40

DS 21 gave me a card and lovely chocolates. Haven't heard from DD at all. She's 18 and away at Uni and normally a thoughtful soul. I'm not bothered about presents etc but cards mean something to me or even a message so I'm a wee bit hurt if I'm perfectly honest. Hey ho.

MrsWinslowsSoothingSyrup · 30/03/2025 17:40

The most delicately drawn card by my 15 yr old DS. He has never been interested in drawing so his drawing never really got past the age 8 stage but it's so detailed and so pretty I just love it with all my heart.

And he said 'thank you for always being there through all my highs and lows'.

Love him so much.

handsdownthebest · 30/03/2025 17:41

Yes had a lovely Mother’s Day weekend.
DD left her husband at home and stayed for two nights. Loved having her to ourselves for a bit. Went shopping yesterday then out for nice dinner with her dad, just the three of us. Then DS joined us today. Went to local cafe for lunch. I don’t like anything forced. . Flowers and funny cards. I’m a happy mum.
I’m really not bothered about gifts. Just want to spend time, have a good chat, a walk, eat good food and chill with them.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 30/03/2025 17:54

Went for a lovely walk with DH and 2 ds who are older teens now - that’s what I’d asked for.

Also had a card and chocolates from DS1. Ds2 will be cooking tea

DH has gone to see his mum now. I stayed home and did the ironing - my mum died several years ago and I find that side of today tough still.

TheJoanCollins · 30/03/2025 17:55

Can’t complain. Have seen 2 out of the 3 Dc. Will see the other one next week. All remembered, which is unusual. Now sitting out in the sun, with a nice glass of bubbly, while Dh cooks dinner. Lovely.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 30/03/2025 17:57

I got a box of chocolates and have been lazing about all day knitting and being brought coffee. It's lovely.

Gizlotsmum · 30/03/2025 18:03

Lie, croissant for breakfast, cups of tea made, did some gardening, walked the dog, now chilling. Got sweets and Lego as gifts and love it all!

GiddyRobin · 30/03/2025 18:03

Really gorgeous day here. MiL (who I love!) has come to stay - she lives in Norway. DH and the DC have treated us both to some really sweet and unique gifts. I'm beyond chuffed with the pieces I've got (some hand made things from an artist I love, and a piece from a taxidermist I follow. I'm a Victoriana collector!).

Breakfast in bed, lunch in my greenhouse/summerhouse which DH and DC decorated, and we're all chipping in to cook up a lovely meal tonight as we love cooking together.

Hoppinggreen · 30/03/2025 18:04

I think its lovely that all these Happy Mothers Day have involved spending time with people we love rather than being bought expensive things or taken anwhere flash

KateF · 30/03/2025 18:04

I've had a lovely day. Dd2 came over this morning with a lovely gift (aromatherapy balms) and we facetimed with Dd1 who is at her dad's having medical treatment. She gave me a beautiful planter she found in an antiques shop last week. While I was gardening in the sun Dd3 made a lemon cake (my favourite) which we've just eaten. The three of them are my only family and I'm so lucky to have them. On Mother's Day I always thank them for making me a mother.

Pancakeflipper · 30/03/2025 18:04

DP away seeing his mum and taking her out today (not local) so just me, my boys, the dog...

Walk through the woods to the woodland cafe with the elder DC this morning. Lovely chat and catch up. Came home. Sat in garden, eaten foods from M&S - not cooking! Been for a walk with youngest DS and had an icecream. Dog is knackered from all the walking.

Got cards, got gifts. Had lots of giggles.

I'm well happy. Best Mother's Day ever.

Missrosie123 · 30/03/2025 18:10

A lovely day. Card, toast and cup of tea in bed. Had parents round for afternoon tea. DS8 made the sandwiches and cakes from Betty’s. Then a walk to the park. Just having a glass of wine now and relaxing watching a film.

Waitingfordoggo · 30/03/2025 18:12

I’ve had a wonderful day and feel very lucky. My kids are older teens. Last year they didn’t manage a card between them for MD and I was hurt by that.

I think my DH probably had words about my disappointment last year and this year they have absolutely knocked it out of the park. I had cards from both DC with heartfelt, lovely messages in them. Flowers and my favourite chocolate bars from one DC and a lovely boxed afternoon tea from other DC.

The youngest DC also organised a family walk near the burial ground where my Mum is. Also booked a table for pub lunch and paid for my food and pint!

And the best thing of all of it was spending 5.5 whole hours with them which hasn’t happened for ages- they have busy lives with studying, work and social lives, so I was chuffed they gave up a big chunk of their Sunday to hang out with their old Mum. We always have a laugh together and find interesting things to chat about.

And to top it all off, it’s been warm and sunny all day and just absolutely perfect.

Bitethehandthatfeedsyou · 30/03/2025 18:15

I've had such a lovely day - nothing especially bells and whistles but kids were on great form, we went out for lunch and had a lovely walk and the sun is shining... also DD bought me lots of chocolate which I now lying on the sofa eating with a cup of tea. Bliss :)

MrsKeats · 30/03/2025 18:18

Went out for afternoon tea with my mum, daughters, sister and niece. Got lots of lovely presents. Lovely day.

bringonyourwreckingball · 30/03/2025 18:22

Dd1 home from Uni, lovely cards and flowers from her and dd2, lovely lunch with my mum and sister and dd1’s boyfriend. No complaints at all, perfect.

Scrooby · 30/03/2025 18:26

My 3yo and 1yo made me a really cute card.

Currently in hospital missing them both because it looks like baby 3 might be a Mother’s Day special!

PashaMinaMio · 30/03/2025 18:28

A perfect sunny Mothers Day.

Lunch out with (ancient) mother and my daughter and son in law.

Scented and floral gifts, home made chocolate tart to bring home.

Tea in my sun lounge now with a large slice of tart! Yep! Perfect.

OudAndRose · 30/03/2025 18:30

I don't have kids but my mum came over for lunch. I have had a really tough few days because my best friend has cancer and is very sick just now. Because she knows I am exhausted by this, my mum came over early and helped to cook her own mother's day lunch. I am so grateful to have her (in my 40s). My friend who is sick may not have another Mother's Day and is delighted just to have the time with her little boy. I don't normally care much what people post on here but the lack of gratitude for small gifts / lowkey time with family has shocked me a bit. Some folks should get some perspective.
