Mothering Sunday, the card said so!

DD sent me a card that used the proper name. Mothering Sunday.
She had to go looking for it among thousands of others. I felt extra pleased. Is that strange?
Anyone else had similar wording? .

My mum used to prefer getting ones that said "Mothering Sunday" but they are rare now.
People go on about it being "just a hallmark holiday" but seem to have forgotten the original meaning behind it.
A lot of people get confused because other countries (USA) have Mother's Day on a different date and it kinda is just a made up day.

My DM was pleased I had bought her a Mothering Sunday one too.😀

I only ever buy my mum one that says Mothering Sunday. She's a Christian and it's one of the only Sundays I go to church with her.

My Mam uses to get annoyed because all the cards said something like, "To my special Mum on Mother's Day". She wanted a card that said "Mam". You can probably get them now.

I absolutely loathe the term ‘Mothering Sunday’. I’m an atheist and have not the least desire to visit my ‘mother church’.

As a day celebrating mothers, the original US early 20thc tradition is a nice one, with lots of peace activists and suffragists, and then the fun turn of the ‘founders’ starting boycotts after they thought it got too commercialised, when Hallmark started making cards in the 1920s.

(Have just discovered from Wiki that the US originator specified Mother’s Day, not Mothers’ Day.)

I always give a Mothering Sunday card (from M&S this year so not that hard to find).

My son wrote happy birthday in mine, he got confused 🤣

I always send a Mothering Sunday card too as my Mum prefers it .

My mum prefers it too - seems the right day to go to the extra effort

Mothering Sunday is DM’s preference too. I am less particular, but will always have been to church and had my bunch of daffs.

My son gave me one that had Happy Birthday Mum on the front. He said they didn't have any Mothers Day cards.

He is very hungover and I suspect didn't notice the entire, separate section of Mothers Day cards. I'm suitably grateful however 😂

My toddler sang happy birthday to me.
