Another night of zero sleep :(

Blue Nytol. I usually take it for 3-4 nights so that it establishes a better pattern. Sometimes 1/2 a tablet is enough.

in my experience it’s better than Zopiclone, which is prescribed.

good luck - insomnia is so debilitating

I got the green one a while ago but dont think it did much.

I'll try blue.

Boots Sleepeze 50mg, works really well, as previous poster suggests 3-4 nights take it, regular bedtime and a cool bedroom.

Sominex. Be careful, I can't take a whole one without being knocked out for much too long. Half one does me nicely. Don't take for more than a day or two (or if you do, taper the dose down gradually) because otherwise you may find you get rebound insomnia.

Night nurse but not often. Once a week, max, for me. Any more than that makes it stop working.

Solpadine Max. The pharmacist may quiz you, and remember that codeine is addictive so again, once a week, a different night to the Night nurse.

Hot milk and brandy.

Lettuce is a soporific so don't laugh, do try a lettuce sandwich in the evening.

400mg magnesium glycinate (or a citrate/malate/glycinate combo) an hour before bed. (Great also for blood pressure, heart health, muscle cramps, restless leg, heart palpitations, anxiety, etc).

Reading “The Magnesium Miracle” by Dr. Carolyn Dean was a game changer for me — we are almost all deficient in magnesium and it affects over 60 functions in our body.

Oh OP I sorry, insomnia is dreadful. I reached breaking point with insomnia and was prescribed zolpidem, they were brilliant and acted as a reset for me. I now take magnesium and one 25mg diphenhydramine snapped in half. It’s total placebo I believe, but I ‘feel’ like I’m taking something that will help me sleep, and therefore it does.

Phenergan tablets recommended by a couple of doctors. I've found that Boots is the best pharmacy for OTC, some are prescription only. They do make me groggy in the morning but it wears off during the day and a full nights sleep is worth it.

I would say it depends on what is stopping you sleeping, for me if I have a lot on my mind I tend to over think and have repeated thoughts, when I am like this I take Dr Bach nighttime sleep rescue, it doesn’t make you sleepy the drops work by stopping the repeated thoughts so you can fall asleep, it’s great stuff. I bought some for a friend who was struggling with sleep she thought it was great too.
