The planets have aligned and I have some time (sort of) to myself tonight, as my adult dc is coming over to have a sleepover with my teen dc (who has a medical condition so I'm up every hour or so in the night usually) and adult dc is taking over to give me a break tonight. This is a very rare treat for me.

I've ran my bath, and I'll spend an hour in there, then I'm going to jump into bed (changed the sheets already) put on some fresh PJs and snuggle up to watch a film. Then I'm going to go to turn all my alarms off and sleep right through the night. I'm so excited I cannot tell you.

I really fancy a good old sob story - what do you recommend?

Enjoy your well deserved break - that sounds like such a lovely night! 🩷

Posting this article because a few sounded like right tear jerkers https://www.townandcountrymag.com/leisure/arts-and-culture/g26134805/sad-movies-on-netflix/

The last time I cried at a movie, a couple of months back, it was a man called Otto. It really got me.

There's also one on netflix called love again which I fancy! And another called collateral beauty (not sure where this is available to watch).

X

I think About Time is still on Netflix. Enjoy your night!

I'm going to ruin the thread before it's even started by nominating the 1983 classic, "Who Will Love My Children."

I think it was on at either Christmas or Easter when I was a child and my entire family from both sides of the aisle, so to speak, gathered together and fell into the crying jags in a display of cross cultural unity and half digested chocolate that has never been seen before or since.

Even the dogs cried and the cat climbed into Auntie May's big sewing ottoman under the G Plan table to wipe her eyes with a bit of bias binding.

Otherwise, Steel Magnolias or Dr Zhivago.

I've just watched, "Who will love my children" again and now I'm in such a state of deep dehydration through the eyeballs I think I might need to be put on a drip.

I'm exhausted. It redeemed itself in the end when the little boy with epilepsy who was put in a children's home got adopted by the same couple who took his brother and they all went to California. I'm so tired.

I know it's all Hollywood nonsense but Whauh! It's so sad!

"Snow Cake" is my go to film for this.

OohKittens · 28/03/2025 21:16

Steel magnolias or beaches
