How long would you leave a 13yo home alone for in the evening?

Sensible boy. All he would do is game. He’s more than happy to be left alone.

Depends where you are and how easily you can get back.

Mine is often alone 6.30-9pm in the evening. Or 4-5hrs during the day.

A sensible one who would probably not move from the tv/x box, about 30 minutes to an hour.

ds3 who has adhd and likely to do something daft "to see what would happen", not a chance.

just in case anyone was wondering, if you put bread in the toaster on number 6 and then keep toasting it repeatedly, the toaster will eventually catch fire. And that's why ds3 will probably not be left alone in the house until he is 30!

About 2 hours tops, with his charged phone next to him. We’ve left DS alone for a couple of hours, but we check in on him regularly, and we’ve been just a 10 min drive away. Anything longer and we send him on a sleepover.

I have one of those in my house too!

I remember when I was that age, my friend would walk home from school, let herself in with a key, and be alone until her mum came back at 5.30pm/6pm ish. So 2-3 hours. But she was a good girl and just did her homework and watched tv until her mum came back and made her tea. I’d often go with her to do homework and have tea at hers. We were both very sensible though!

I leave mine from 6-9pm to facilitate sibling activities. This is fine, he’s sensible. I wouldn’t like to leave him much later until he’s a bit older
