Can you find out what post box was used to send a card to someone

Just that really, does anyone know if from a stamped envelope there is any number code that identifies what post box was used to send it?

Yes, it was all accurate, interestingly used my maiden name and not my married name which I use at work but I really don't interact with many people at work due to the nature of my job.

My husband pointed out that I use my maiden name for the electoral register so it could be via that. He said it could be an ex boyfriend but I loved away 20 years ago and I live 4 hours away from that area. Then DH said the last one I lived with could have been on a conference down here as I said it was posted in our county as has the sorting office address.

Moved not "loved".

In view of the latest info, @Goldenbear, I think it's someone from your work. The other scenario seems pretty far-fetched.

Maybe someone who knows of you rather than a close colleague.

Yes and my DH said this as well but I rarely interact people at work and it would have to be someone who had access to the addresses on the database that limits it to senior people.

Even if you could identify the post box, it still wouldn't identify who had posted the card.

They may have walked/driven to another area, or they may have given the card to someone else to post.

Yes, true but I live quite far away from where I work so I thought if it was a work person it may be within that area more or near where they live, however, that could be a red herring as you imply.

Could it be one of the senior people? Or could anyone else gain access to the database even if they aren't supposed to?

Yes, maybe, we did have a change of database and I am unsure how thorough the permitted access was at first. I work in quite a big place and when I do interact so in a regular, professional way, I wouldn't say there was any particular person that I would have endless conversation with for example.

Wild stab in the dark - has your DH ever shown any sign of not trusting you? If so, he might have sent it himself to see what reaction it got.

I know someone who suspected his wife was having an affair, so he sent two bunches of flowers to her work on Valentine's Day. She only brought one bunch home.😂

I wouldn't say so, I mean he still sketches my card (good at sketching as Architect) and he writes quite a bit inside that is sentimental. He is away for work quite a bit and I rang him about it as wondered if it was from him as hadn't received his by this point and he was honestly baffled, I have known him since our 20s and can tell his honest reactions. He was a bit out out by it as he thinks it's creepy and he said I have a wedding ring on so quite odd if it's a work person. I had a bad experience at a work Christmas party 25 years ago so if it is someone from work I really don't want to come across like anything other than work colleague. I suppose this is making me more worried about it, how am I coming across.

@Goldenbear I think it is someone from your work.

It could just be a joke. It could be someone who knows of you rather than knows you and who may not have seen you close enough to see your wedding ring, so thinks you're available. It could even be someone who knows you're married - Lord knows, there are plenty of men who will make a pass at a married colleague.

And I really don't think it's anything you've said or done or any impression you've given - there are chancers about who would try it on with a nun. I hope it's not that, though.

In your place I would try not to think about it too much, but I'm afraid I would be more alert at work, just in case. Which would be unfair, no-one should be made to feel they have to be vigilant in that way.

Thank you for taking the time to respond, it's kind of you.

Yes, I thought it may be a joke, that was my first thought, a weird one but still. The card says, "perfect match" on the front and two matches in a match box, I wondered if it was a clue but don't think so. Inside is only a question mark, I wouldn't say that is very personal so thought about a joke. I even thought, is it marketing even with a handwritten envelope but what are they selling as in it is a standard card, quite expensive actually so I don't think so. Also, my work name is this, the abbreviated version of my first name, I just realise that I'm the electoral register I'm the full first name.

😂Yes, the married status is probably irrelevant especially with someone in work with as they won't know my DH so out of sight out of mind kind of thinking.

The incident many years ago was a different time, 00s and I was young, probably friendly but the man was double my age and senior and he absolutely misinterpreted my interactions. I couldn't believe what I was hearing from him towards me at the time I was living with a boyfriend. I always think about what I did to lead to this even though the rational side of me knows that's ridiculous, I had to leave in the end. I'm quite smiley but I'm quite nervous so it is my way of being normal.

Thanks again, there is literally nothing I can do so just have to wait and see.

It will be shit stirrer from work who wants to cause you trouble by making your husband have a row with you about your anonymous admirer.

Crikey, you mean anyone, that's a bit worrying as I don't have deep conversations with anyone just advise on a very boring area of work life in IT but your right it has shit stirring credentials about it!
