ADHD assessment waiting time. I could cry

Feb 2023 I had an NHS referral accepted.
A year later i rang to ask about waiting time and they said 12/18 months from that point. Which I specifically remember as I was thinking about doing a 'right to choose' referal instead but i figured I was roughly half way so may as well carry on. I also discussed it with my sister, so am positive that is what they said.

I just rang back now as its been another year.

They just told me I'm looking at 7 years!

I was in disbelief and asked for clarification, yes 7 years from referral. So 5 years for me.

I said about them saying 18 months last year and they completely denied that!

And told me to go back to GP to do a right to choose referal!

Why didnt they just say that 2 years ago when i applied?!

Dunt worry rtc be seen in few weeks medicated me and diagnosed within 3 months adhd 360 are fab!!!

I wonder if you’ve misunderstood what they originally said or maybe if they got mixed up, 7 years does sound pretty likely to me based on what I know of my own local area. 18 months would have immediately flagged to me as an error as I know how long the lists are (where I am)!

I know someone who waited less than 18 months on the right to choose pathway, closer to a year I think.

Could you submit the paperwork for RTC in the meantime and take whichever comes up first?

Yeah, I’d be shocked if that’s the case anywhere. In some areas for adults it is 9/10 years.

You can’t go down the RTC pathway if you have already done down the route of NHS. I really think you should look into having it done privately. Especially if it’s required for reasonable adjustments at work etc.

Its 6-8 week currently at my local one. Just wish they would have told me this.

This isnt true, Ive spoke to bith my GP receptionist and the private diagnosis company today.
Since i am not recieving any treatment already for the condition I can cancel my NHS one.

I've been waiting since 2020. And in true ADHD fashion have lost the paperwork so can't chase
