Does this type of holiday even exist?

My family and I really want to get a villa (with small pool) abroad for 2 weeks this summer.

we’ve done it a few times
now - France, Portugal, Majorca etc but while the villa has been lovely, it’s never been within walking distance of a nice resort.

I’m travelling with my elderly but sprightly parents so a km or two on nice pavements or a prom to cafes and shops would be perfect. They love their Independence but everywhere we’ve gone to date has needed a taxi or a hire car to get anywhere.

I just want a small villa with a little space and a pool but in a nice resort that isn’t too commercial.

Help!!

Many years ago we stayed in a small Villa with a pool in Punta Prima in Menorca. It was very close to the beach and restaurants.

Playa Blanca Lanzarote is probably worth a look. We stayed in the Rubicon Villas, which would suit.

Casa de la Jara 10 - Townhouses for Rent in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Andalucía, Spain - Airbnb would this house in Sanlucar, Spain work? You're around a 20 minute walk from downtown with bars, restaurants, shops etc and also near the beach.

Was going to suggest Menorca. Home of the villa holiday

Lots of holiday rental villas with pools in Puerto Pollensa, Majorca. Have a look on Booking.Com

I think on Vrbo you can filter for villas where a car isn’t needed which means they are closer to or within resorts.

Thanks everyone.
That’s really helpful and I’ll look into these.

Is Spain a no-go area for British holidaymakers at the moment? I feel a bit apprehensive about going.

You'll be fine in Sanlucar. It's places like Barcelona where the protests are happening.

I would recommend Lanzarote, we have stayed in villas there, all centrally located, so no need for a car, unless you want one. The only advice I would give if travelling with children, check the depth of the private pool before you book, we stayed in a fabulous villa in January, but the pool was very deep even at the shallow end was 120cm & 240cm deep end. So double check pool depth if it isn’t in the listing. Have a great holiday.

The protests are very isolated in the busiest most touristy areas.

In the last year we've been to Ibiza, Gran Canaria and quieter areas around Malaga twice and not seen any bother or been made to feel anything but very welcome.

Santo Tomas in Menorca is lovely.

Mandelieu-la-Napoule near Cannes in France. Fly to Nice. Lovely beach with the castle and restaurants to walk too. Plenty of places to visit if you want to explore further afield.
