Teachers you are grateful for

I'm very grateful for 2 teachers that really supported me and encouraged me in primary. They were really nice to me and put me into the gifted and talented, something that I'm forever grateful for.

I had many lovely teachers that supported me in secondary and I'm still in touch with a few and I go and give career talks.

Mr Carrick - amazing teacher - Latin in a bog-standard comp many years ago. Latin was oversubscribed at O level and A level.
He was not at all down with the kids but had dry sense of humour and we loved his lessons.
Many years later after a business career I re/trained as a teacher in my early 50s and he was my role model
I tried to track him down on SM and managed to make contact with his son. Sadly he had died - only 6months earlier! - but was able up pass my thanks onto his widow.

A teacher I had in primary school. Things were quite complex in my family and about to get worse, and this schoolteacher was my security. He was also a brilliant teacher. It was to be the first and last time I ever fully understood maths. He used to crack jokes and 10 year old me thought he was hilarious - think Eric Morecambe.

I've managed to contact the first teacher from my primary, yet to find the second just yet.

Mr Lisher- history teacher.

I had him for A level and he was bloody brilliant. I was a PITA and didn’t put the effort in. I must have been incredibly frustrating. He was a brilliant teacher. His teaching made the exam questions easy. He was always willing to offer support and help, even tho I probably didn’t deserve it.

I went back to education as an adult and now have first class BA and Master’s with a distinction both in history.

I wish I could go back and tell him how bloody brilliant he was and apologise for being such hard work and a lazy student.
