Something for fear of flying

My husband and I are taking our young children away on flights at Easter time. It will be their first flights and we haven't flown for a few years because of covid, having kids etc. I am looking forward to the break but am very nervous about flying. Has anyone taken anything that has helped them relax enjoy the flights more? I thought of asking my GP if there is anything. Thanks

Have a read of Alan Carrs fear of flying book, it’s been the best thing for me (and I’ve done the proper fear of flying courses run by the airlines and was so bad that I tried to get a cargo ship home from Fiji!)

I have rescue remedy on hand now, I’ve had the sleeping tablets from the doctors but it knocks me out too much. I do sometimes take propanol for the symptoms but weirdly find taking a Nytol is the best thing to calm me down as well.

good luck and enjoy your holiday x

I understand that GPs no longer prescribe valium for a fear of flying because it can inhibit your reactions in case of an emergency. I would look into private hypnotherapy if you can afford it.
