Moving to Suffolk

Hello all,Solo parent looking for opinions/lived experiences!I am planning a relocation to Suffolk, after several years of extensive research and trips. We both absolutely feel at home there, and have made some connections.Currently live in a busy part of the south, inaccessible to us in many ways, and could not afford to buy here.DC and I have whittled it down to either Beccles or Bungay. But now we are stuck! Beccles, I see there is certainly more houses that come up in budget, and bigger properties, however the new housing developments worry me, as it could become to busy for us.Bungay, we loved too, seems quieter, but smaller properties when they do come up. However, I would take location over property size. They are both lovely places! What do you think? Beccles or Bungay? Thanks in advance for your wisdom! 😊💓

Wow! So much going on, thank you for that!
I must say, I have never been bored when visiting Beccles! My DS loves it there and prefers it to anywhere else! The only things that gave me reservations were the little bits of trouble from teenagers, and the new builds, but I'm thinking this is not just exclusive to Beccles!

Aww that's good he likes it.How old is your DS?
The new builds it's hard to say what the impact will be.
As for teenagers, I don't have kids that age but don't think it's a major issue at the moment as far as i know... no more than anywhere else and certainly alot less than lowestoft which has alot of those challenges.
I've not witnessed gangs about myself.

I also live in Beccles, well Worlingham actually, which is about a mile from Beccles but easily walkable. I moved here 3 years ago, but only lived about 15 miles away previously . Absolutely love Beccles, the people are so friendly . Schools are good, especially Worlingham primary. Plenty of events held year round as previously mentioned, all are very well supported by the locals. Plenty of cafes and hairdressers plus independent shops. Yes there are some empty shops but think Beccles compared to a lot of places are doing very well. Several places to eat and nice pubs. I may be biased but I prefer it to both Halesworth and Bungay. There is only one doctors surgery but I find it very good and on the odd occasion myself or husband has needed an appointment have had no issues getting one. Any questions please ask

Carlton colville has some really nice residential areas (the roads ending in 'dale' aswell as the developments off hollow grove way and chapel road area.Sands lane area of Oulton broad is really nice. Both have petrol stations and small supermarkets.Pakefield is also nice although houses bigger and more expensive. You definitely get more for your money Lowestoft way and having the beach close is a big plus.
I work there in a job that means i haven't always seen it's best sides.High schools are questionable and town centre can have its troubles (fair few drug users etc) but the outskirts are still really nice and it's got a couple of good retail parks.

Personally not a fan of Carlton Coleville, there's not really many facilities there. Oulton Broad is ok, nice park overlooking the broad, places to eat and drink etc. I occasionally get the train there from Beccles in the summer months. Personally thou I prefer Beccles but if you want more for your money I'd consider Oulton Broad as opposed to Carlton Coleville. Not sure what schools are like in these areas though.

In my opinion there are not many facilities in Carlton Colville when compared to Beccles or indeed Oulton Broad. Carlton Colville is one of those places where the original old small village has now grown a lot with newer housing estates but not really anything other than that. Oulton Broad has got more shops, restaurants, a lovely park overlooking the broads, basically it has more facilities and not only that but a nicer "feel".
